I've posted a few crazy ideas in my time here but this one isn't one of my more outlandish ones. I was wondering if anyone has tried having a staff in one hand and a poi or meteors in the other and if it is possible to perform wraps and suchlike with this set up.

I was thinking about performing with poi, dropping one at the end of the routine and then doing rope dart stuff with the remaining poi (I use long enough chains for this to work) and then picking up a staff and spinning that with the poi in the other hand.

I have a set of poi that I think will burn for long enough allow me to do this and might use my three wick poi for the hand that I 'discard' part of the way through the routine.

What do you all think?

I personally don't find ropedart interesting unless you've got enough length to really differentiate it from poi, and to really wrap yourself up in it. But y'know it might work for you.

I saw some staff and one poi stuff at bristol and it's quite interesting. Odd number of fire wicks makes your brain go eh? To an extent...

ola!

aukay, i've tried staff in one hand and poi in the other, it worked, but didn't find it that interesting or inspiring to stick with that....

....but once, while in london, clapham on a sunday, there was a guy on walking sticks with a long staff and poi on each end of the staff so that when he was spinning the staff the circle was surrounded by an even bigger circle, made by those poi at each end of the staff....that was wicked peace

Wasn't Cantus doing double glow staff and Poi down at Falmouth?

That was fairly bad ass..

I was trying it out last night and thought of some interesting little things to do but other than that I can't get my head around it. I guess it'll need more work.

i know a chap who spins a staff in each hand, and holds onto a poi in each hand too. all he does with it is 2 beat weave, though.
some people get impressed.
it has potential..
but i wonder if the more bits and pieces you hold the less room you have to do things?
hmm.

I found it so much easier just to tie the poi to the ends of the staff smile

you'll need a lot of space for this manouevre....
