Online Community Rules

In order to help keep the site an open, safe, respectful and tidy environment we have created the following guidelines for all users of the bulletin board.

Guidelines for members (including moderators and administrators)

What can a member do?

  • Post a topic
  • Reply to a topic
  • Edit or delete your own post
  • Help keep the site tidy by helping others
  • Ask for help
  • Have fun

Before posting a new topic

  • If you can answer YES to these 4 questions then you may post a new topic.
    • Is it the Truth?
    • Is it Fair to all concerned?
    • Will it build Goodwill and Better Friendships?
    • Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?
  • Is the post suitable for our site? See list of unsuitable topics.
  • Before Posting a topic please check the Search engine. If we can avoid making too many threads on the same topic everything can be tidy and easy to understand for all. If your query or comment relates to a thread then post in that same thread. Creating another thread can cause confusion.
  • Are you using the most appropriate Forum? Please keep discussion on "new moves" in the "new moves" forum.. etc . Ask another member or Moderator if you are unsure.
  • HOP is not a chat or instant messaging web site. If you require instant messaging please use another site, an IM program such as AOL,MSN,IQU, etc. Most members are contactable by private messaging (PM) or by email for private conversations.
  • Try to keep posts simple and easy to read. Please avoid using simplified English ( eg Nice 2 C U) as it is not understood by all. Do not use all caps ( eg MY SUBJECT IS ) as some individuals see this as shouting. Smilies smile are nice but try not to overuse them. Posts with over 30 graemlins/smilies will have them automatically removed.
  • If you make a poke at someone as a joke always use a " wink" however this should be made clear as some individuals may not understand and therefore get offended..
  • Please describe the topic in the title. It helps us decide on whether to read it or not and/or find it later.

Before replying to a topic

  • If you can answer YES to these 4 questions then you may post a reply.
    • Is it the Truth?
    • Is it Fair to all concerned?
    • Will it build Goodwill and Better Friendships?
    • Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?
  • Threads must stay on topic. Please may sure your reply is relevant and on topic.
  • If you see an unsuitable post look for the notifyicon below the offending message. A form will open allowing you to contact the moderators all automatically by email in order to check the message and take appropriate action.
  • Respect that not everyone will have the same opinion as you. Yes, you may not agree with it, but respect their opinion, just as you would hope yours would be.
