Out of interest, do any HOPers have favourite crazy theories as to what is going on on the island?

In fact, have the creators themselves figured it out yet?

i doubt it. i was watching some of the extra features on the dvd's of season one. they pretty much make it up as they go along.

they didnt even have a full cast or any script or major storyline going on when they filmed the pilot.

i dont care. its brilliant all the same!!

Did you know that those dreads were real? He cut them off just before getting the part in Lost.

I was watching the matrix trilogy a few weeks ago and couldn't resist shouting "Waaaallllttt" or "They've taken my boy" or something to that effect every time he came on.

I was really expecting to quickly grow to dislike Lost, but I think that it has developed really well. Characters like John Locke are well developed and interesting.

However, I seriously doubt that I will remain interested for 7 series of continually unsolved mysteries. Eventually the plot holes will emerge, the level of credibility will fall as they struggle to maintain interest, and I fully expect it to become a frustratingly opaque cash cow.

Sorry for the pesscimism!

JJ Abrams and the rest of the writers already have the remaining seasons planned out (including a zombie season in season 8 wink) so hopefully they'll come up with something interesting. THey still have to explain the smoke, the sickness, DHARMA, Widmore, who the others are and why they took walt and the other children, what the button does, what the blacklight map means and so many other things. Plus there are already some interesting character arcs (Charlie's, Jack/Sawyer/Kate/Ana-Lucia to name two) that have to be resolved. I recon they might just be able to keep it going for that long.

That being said, the writers have written two 'get out scripts' for when the show starts to bomb...
