Hullo. This is kinda odd, last forum I joined I knew most of the people on it, here I don't know anyone. Hopefully that won't last though! Anyway, here's me (sort of).
Name: Kat
Age:27, so theoretically old enough to know better, but it doesn't seem to be working!
Occupation: Teacher (blech!
) Location: Edinburgh
Hobbies: costuming, tapestry, sword fighting, lots of other stuff, and now staff spinning too!
First time spinning: Firestaff at about 3am in a field at the re-enactmant of the Battle of Bannockburn last September. Been hooked ever since, and my lovely fiance bought me a firestaff (and a balloon animal blowing kit!) for Christmas, isn't he nice?! Haven't lit it yet though, thought it might be good to stop hitting myself with it first.
Can't think of anything else right now, it's Monday morning and my brain has melted. Need more sleep.

I've got the buttons working, so I'm programming loads of patterns in, now that I've got a way to change them

Foot very sore and have to walk funny. Boo!
Went horse-riding for first time in ages on Saturday, great fun. Am not crap, which is good. Was most funny, me on sizeable horse and 3 kids on small ponies. Boy was I sore on Sun, Mon and Tues though. Spent chunk of Sunday at Yellowcraigs beach finding cool things in rockpools and being in denial about going back to work on Monday.
Don't tell anyone, but applying for job in Aberdeen. Won't get it, but it would be really cool! :wishfulsmiley: Might put mead on tonight once have finished application form.

Thank you Mrs. P for the offer of roll matts at the weekend. In the end my sister and niece used rolled up blankets and I used Jonny UCoF, so we were all fine. It was kind of you to offer though

I do glow under UV, but only when I have UV hair extensions or body paint on. Or UV clothes.
Skully, you are more than welcome. Since I have such a huge pile of squishy comfy sheepskins to sleep on, it's only fair that other people get to be comfy too. Had a great weekend! The sunburn is starting to peel, and the black eye is doing nicely, although not as impressive as the initial bump warranted I feel.

Staff. Doubles throws. Managed 2 catches in a 2 staff shower. Most pleased. Ouchy though. Nothing like as impressive as Fluffs shiner.
Clearing out last years absence notes for reg class. Best note award so far goes to:
Dear Miss Barnard. ------- was absent since Monday with a rumbling appendix.
Most intrigued to hear what a rumbling appendix sounds like. Reckon it might be something like a large lorry passing very slowly.

I'm so jealous of you all! I so wish I could do spinning :cry: everyone's getting better and better and I'm just sitting round and watching... Monday nights just aren't that much fun when you're not supposed to use your hands, and going to meets just to watch is even more depressing
I kind of feel like an outsider at the moment, there's so much I learned at Überstaff that I want to practice, but by the time I can I'll have forgotten it. On absence notes, one of my sister's classmates lost five (yes, five) grandparents in a year. I wonder if maybe it wasn't such a good idea to let us write our own notes in the last 2 years...

they are amazing, and very nice, and helpfully label their vids with the moves they are doing. Such nice (and incredible to watch!) guys.
