Hullo. This is kinda odd, last forum I joined I knew most of the people on it, here I don't know anyone. Hopefully that won't last though! Anyway, here's me (sort of).

Name: Kat
Age:27, so theoretically old enough to know better, but it doesn't seem to be working!
Occupation: Teacher (blech! frown)
Location: Edinburgh
Hobbies: costuming, tapestry, sword fighting, lots of other stuff, and now staff spinning too!
First time spinning: Firestaff at about 3am in a field at the re-enactmant of the Battle of Bannockburn last September. Been hooked ever since, and my lovely fiance bought me a firestaff (and a balloon animal blowing kit!) for Christmas, isn't he nice?! Haven't lit it yet though, thought it might be good to stop hitting myself with it first.

Can't think of anything else right now, it's Monday morning and my brain has melted. Need more sleep.

Anyway, hello and hugs to all you nice people.

Good morning bucketperson! hug

That's what you get yourself into for hanging out with firepeople all the time biggrin

My costume's nearly finished, I only need the cloak, and to find natural fibre lining material so I don't freeze to death... oh, and a little bag for medicine stuff to attach to the cloak or the skirt, but even I should manage that.

Holiday Monday? We don't get that one frown So I'll be dead for yet another week at work... and have to entertain a friend from Germany and her boyfriend who I've never met but whose nickname is "Butcher" for the weekend eek

Poor Stuart frown But he can join all the after-parties with us, maybe that makes him happier smile

Oh, forgot about the "what's it like"!

It's black jeans cut up at the seams and filled with red bits to make something skirt-like. The legs of the jeans have become legwarmers, which lookes kind of stone-age-y but might keep me warm. The top is something black sewed on something white and slashed up, with the sleeves cut up to tie behind the back, and the back cut out nearly completely, except for a bit at the sides to hide the fat wink Am currently working on making little red and white flamey bits to sew on smile

Butcher?! eek
I'm sure he's a nice boy really. Umm. Yeah. Maybe be prepared to run just in case?

As long as he's allowed to come to parties it should all be fine. Otherwise I won't be going, haven't seen very much of him recently. Presumably Mr ado-p and friend will be allowed too.

Apparently Butcher is very nice, but a punk who thinks he has to have a punk-sounding name. He also studies chemistry.

Sorry missed call Birgit, was having a 'kids are all horrible' stress relieving moan with colleague.

I'll call you before I come round with stuff. Have constructed a skirt, dug out my leather top and made a hood for my cloak. Cloak and it's partially finished lining all over my desk in the staff Base! Just got to sew i lining and make boot covery things, which will take hardly any time. Just wish didn't have flipping parents night!

Glad you're a happier bunny! I'm kind of lost and hoping the flatmate will be back tonight so I can use her sewing-machine for the cloak, otherwise I'll have to handstitch it, but I figure I could even manage that. Very confident about sewing today smile

Shall be back from choir practice at around 10.

You can come round and use mine if you like, I'll give you a call when I get home, probably around 9ish, half past 9.

Yeah, sorry I got a bit grumpy last night. Was tired and hungry I think. Ended up sewing for a bit when I got home though.

Stuart is now most pleased, largely cos I was wandering around the flat last night in my underwear and a leather top. Can't think why that made him so smiley. ubbangel ubblol

Hullo Socks. Better late than never! tongue

One stressed kitty just now.

Off to Inverness with 140 first years tomorrow, for 5 days. eek No interweb, and it's pretty much a mobile dead zone. Cool castle though! Am bound to have forgotten to pack something important. Do have purple wellies however!

Also trying to get last lot of wedding invites done to day, getting p***ed off with slack relatives who haven't replied. I even gave them a ticky box card so all they had to do was delete as applicable and post. Gaaah!

If I live, I'll be back on Friday, when I get to go to Birgit's birthday party, woohoo!

Wish me luck ....

Hmm, major resurrection of dead thread.

The world is weird again.

I get married in 9 days, and this doesn't seem so important after things which happened at the weekend. Of course I still want to marry Suart - I love him, just got hit with a bit of a perspective thing, there are things way more important than swanning around in a posh dress and being congratulated by relatives you barely know. Still want to do the wedding thing, just wish we could put it off for a little while. Can't really explain this here, for various reasons.

Went to the meadows to spin last night and didn't know anyone, and none of the people I didn't know actually spoke to me. This didn't help my head. Hope someone I know is going next week, hint hint.

I need a hug I think.

Sorry I wasn't out on the meadows last night - I was moving the first few things into new flat so it was all a bit chaotic. I promise I'll be there next week - with NYC too! There! Two people you know to talk to and hug smile It is never a very good meet for socialising with strangers though... maybe that's just me being shy.

More big hugs for a lovely kat hug hug It'll all be ok you know hug

Kat, sorry I'm reading this so late, have been completely stressed out with 1st year report and made myself not use the net all day smile

I've been out last night, but only for a while since I had to get back to typing and the midges started a huge kamikaze attack on my face and arms. James has had a huuuuuuuuuuuuge making-poi-session, so we now have my old ladybug ones, my fire ones, the globall ones, his socks, new socks for me, tennisball-tail-ones for him and the newest addition are fish-poi. They need some improvement but they're cool.

If you want to pm me please do, I should also be home tomorrow night for calls if you wanna talk hug

Thanks hun, sorry I missed you, was at a friends for a meeting about things until about 10.30pm, so didn't actually get to the meadows until after 11. The midges were a bit vicious. Hope the reports going okay.

Still no good news on the undiscussable things. Nothing anyone can do, just got to wait.

Just got reminded how expensive plumbers are too. Toilet is misbehaving and I can't fix it this time. £59 for first hour (minimum charge), £44 for subsequent hours, plus any parts! Maybe I should re-train as a plumber....

Plumber here as we speak. And by the sound of things my toilet now flushes, and I'm going to have to hand over lots of cash. And what do you mean we have strange gravity Strugz? Explain!

Ooops! redface Sorry for causing rearrangements, but very glad you can come. hug

Todays useless fact: Plumbers are called plumbers because water pipes used to be made from lead, and the latin name for lead was plumbum (for some reason Chemistry students think that's hilarious, can't think why ubbangel) 'Tis also why the symbol for lead is Pb, and why plumb lines are so called. But I'm sure you all knew that already!

Got some better news last night too, so the world is getting nicer.
