Hullo. This is kinda odd, last forum I joined I knew most of the people on it, here I don't know anyone. Hopefully that won't last though! Anyway, here's me (sort of).

Name: Kat
Age:27, so theoretically old enough to know better, but it doesn't seem to be working!
Occupation: Teacher (blech! frown)
Location: Edinburgh
Hobbies: costuming, tapestry, sword fighting, lots of other stuff, and now staff spinning too!
First time spinning: Firestaff at about 3am in a field at the re-enactmant of the Battle of Bannockburn last September. Been hooked ever since, and my lovely fiance bought me a firestaff (and a balloon animal blowing kit!) for Christmas, isn't he nice?! Haven't lit it yet though, thought it might be good to stop hitting myself with it first.

Can't think of anything else right now, it's Monday morning and my brain has melted. Need more sleep.

Anyway, hello and hugs to all you nice people.

Doing what?

Want to buy a flat? Might be selling one! Although I probably shouldn't mention that in case everything goes pear shaped. Which it probably will.

How much do you want for it? People in my lab are going wild about buying flats right now. Not that anyone would give me a mortgage, I didn't even get a proper bank account until I bothered them enough to give me a cheque book rolleyes

Ah, it's not so much 'will the flat sell', more of the 'will we get the house we're interested in or will somebody outbid us, or the surveyors report discover that we won't be able to afford the building costs, or I won't be able to get all the stuff I need to sort out sorted before the closing date (thursday!)'. Not selling unless we get the house. Selling's the easy part this time rolleyes

Which reminds me, must organise valuation of flat and find solicitor asap. Bugger.

Indeed. In some ways better, in many ways worse.
I'll know by Friday, closing date is midday thursday. Flat now being valued wednesday night. Nothing like leaving it to the last minute!

If anyones interested it is lot 1 of this but what they say is there is actually what there is planning permission for, not what is actually there!

Hello Mr blue. hug kiss (Yes you can have a festival there if we get it, once the builders have fnished anyway!)

There is the farmhouse, cartshed, and 2 cottages (currently cow byres, 1 with no roof!) on 3 sides of a square. They're selling them as 4 separate lots, or all together (all together = offers over £760,000 eek) We just want the farmhouse, so that's all that's in that listing I posted.

Well, all wuld be nice but we didn't win the lottery so can't have. ubblol

There are outbuilding attached to the cartshed too, but they have been declared unfit for just about anything!

If we get it, we'll stay with my parents in Kirkcaldy for a couple of months while the building work's being done. It'll give us a chance to sort their garden out too.

And (if we get it) when it's done you can come and stay whenever you like! (But you might get roped into wall building and garden planting and stuff.)

House is now a definate no I'm afraid.

Surveyors report costed renovations to the existing building at £60,000, not including VAT or labour costs, and that doesn't include building the extension. Considerably more than we can afford. Apparently there are also drainage issues with the land, which would require an agricultural specialist to fix before we could use the land as grazing.

Also the bank have decided to lower what they are prepared to lend us by £60,000 for unexplained reasons, so there's absolutely no way we can afford it.

So now we shall have to save our pennies for a few years, get our flat sorted out and try again when we have more equity behind us.

A bit poo, but at least we won't be too skint to do anything!

So, you can uncross your fingers Birgit - thanks for trying!

On an totally different subject: Ben is horrible, he made me do painful acro type things and me leg muscles are very broken.
Also, the fire ropes have now been burned, they look amazing!

X, I think we have got rid of our mice for now. But next time my husband screams and starts madly tidying cos he sees one I'll let you know! As for eating them, I'm afraid I prefer the sugar variety.
Would you like your tummy tickled instead?

doopy, I'd love to buy a house in Ireland, but unfortuantely my job is here!

Bees are amazing.

And they make honey.

And I have a very silly looking bee suit and big gloves and welly boots. So they shouldn't be able to sting me much.

They don't really bother you much, unless you are trying to take their honey away (bit of a bummer when that's the main object! ubblol) or you stand right in front of the hive.

I shall put pics up when we get them. Which hopefully will be as soon as the weather stops being silly.

Was an okay birthday, still had to go to work and teach horrible children frown but got taken out for lovely dinner last night biggrin
Birthday present not here yet, but will put up pics of my lovely new sword when it gets here!

Oh, and we have two hives of bees now. Will try and get pics of them too. They are very busy, but the bigger one has nasty mites and may have a few other problems too unfortunately. Poor bees.

'Ullo. I was just in your thread.

Poo. (For poi loss) Yay. (for bigger scarier poi!)

Bees should be okay. We will check them again on Sunday and see if we need to give them medicine now, or if we can wait until September (which would be better, cos then we get HONEY!)
