Hi there HoPpers,

At work quite a while ago, one of my mates said that when i spin it kinda looks like Tai Chi and this i have applied to the name of my poi style, Poi Chi.

Other distinct styles that i have recently observed i would call Furious Fire and Pixie Poi.

My Question to all of you is what do you call your style and how would you decribe it, I've included a couple of examples just because.

Poi Chi: very slow spinning, slightly over exagerated moves, suited to moves that are moderate to high in technical difficulty.

Furious Fire: very fast spinning favoured by newbees.

Pixie Poi: varried tempo, quite happy and bouncy, suited to most moves especially chasing the sun and variations therof

'Trying to avoid another black eye stylee' is great coz you can pull off some really cool looking moves that in reality are a move gone bad without any black eyes

"Mushroom" or "Acidic-style" and "Tech-Reel" comes to mind...

Certainly not to forget "Thai-Style", which is somehow "advanced furious fire"... wink

I'd call mine Ataru (yes, stolen from Star Wars, and yes, I am a nerd) - I like to put in as much acrobatics and movement aside from the actual poi techniques as I can!

Would 'trying-to-avoid-another-groin-shot' be a more advanced 'trying-to-avoid-another-black-eye' style?

Kupo!
