can you describe them a little better maybe?

'4 balls freestanding' could mean a bunch of stuff:

double meteor
poi length double meteor (i use double ended nets for this and use them for throws mainly - they make for some crazy photos smile )
weighted handle poi (i.e. 2 different sized balls at each end of each poi)
4 ball juggling

have fun weavesmiley

Saying you invented anything on a poi forum is dangerous ground smile If you mean what i think you mean, double weighted poi, balls in each end, it has been done many a time before smile

There are many cool contact moves you can do with weighted poi, have fun playing!

Yeah, Beth i believe you are right, i think he does mean having one part of the poi as weight and another as a handle. I have not used this style, if this is what he is talking about, but i do see numerous videos. It looks pretty schnazzy.

ditto i'd be well impresed with that!

if it's just balls in each end of the poi it's not original in itself but a good idea and lots of fun with lots of posserbilities to explore! biggrin

hold on.... let me catch my breath... laughing way too hard. ok ok, I'm good now. guess what, I invented the automobile. so basically what you're saying... is you think you invented having weighted handles on your poi? If you've never seen it before, I suggest you open you're eyes. maybe even try double nun-chuki if it appeals to you.

I'll get there too late if I shorten my stride, I'll get there too soon if I find me a ride, I'll never move forward if I try to hide this path that I've troden one step at a time.

censored

suggest you grow some balls of your own..

what did we learn today class.....
some people have no class or simply cant be happy for other people to achieve..

which brings us quite safely to the backwards weave behind your head well not really behind your head the whole shape sits behind your neck...

here let me dangle my balls infront of your face..

You what?
What utter tripe. angry

No really, thats shite. shrug

He did invent it if he has never seen it elsewhere before.
He arrived at it without any external input, so he did invent it.
So what if someone else somewhere on the other side of the word invented it first?, he still invented it as he thought of it.

And simply opening his eyes doesnt mean he is going to see any more than he currently does.
If there is no one around doing that, and if he doent download videos, then even if his eyes were open and he had binoculars surgically attached to hsi eyes, it doesnt mean he will see people doing doing poi with weighted handles.

umm

Maybe i'm a little thick, but is this thread really just about weighted handles? or is there something more to it ?

doc, that cryptic style of writing may be artsy but it doesn't really say much.

I still have no idea what this '4 ball form' is and Doc, you arent exactly giving us much to go on.

Answer these questions -

1. Do you have 1 ball at either end of each poi?

2. Is each ball exactly or similarly weighted?

3. Do you use more than 1 set of poi in this '4-ball form'? A set being 2 poi, one for each hand.

If yes to 1&2 then what you have there my friend are counter weighted poi or mini meteors. If yes to 3 then you have something different entirely but again, people spinning more than 1 set of poi has been done before but well done for thinking of it.

Please clarify.

Aim high and you'll know your limits, aim low and you'll never know how high you could have climbed.

doc said "yes, 4 aerotechs" a few posts back which i imagine would be a similar if not identical setup to my double ended nets (remember i had them at uberpoi beth? ronan liked them lots smile ).

so:

1. yes
2. yes
3. no

innit smile

And this post really confused me.

Techinically Cole, your poi are mini meteors as they are identically weighted on each end (arent they? confused) but this man says his arent so therefore my confusion continues.

Aim high and you'll know your limits, aim low and you'll never know how high you could have climbed.

'mini meteor' suggests you hold the string.

so 'not as meteors but as poi', means 'i don't hold the string in the middle (like meteors) but hold the ends (like poi)' smile

well technically beth, that's what i said in my first post tongue

poi length double meteor (i use double ended nets for this and use them for throws mainly - they make for some crazy photos smile )

the only person i've ever seen using double mini meteor is ewan ('the man who made spitz') and you wouldn't want to do what he does with them if the ends were aerotechs ubblol

not sure where doc says they're not identically weighted...

All that '4-ball form' and '4 balls freestanding' and other silly phrases like that is probably the most long winded and confusing way of saying -

Poi with weighted handles.

*sigh*

Doc, in future, please be a little clearer in your posts!
