maybe if you go out and party really hard this weekend, you will kill off enough brain cells, and therefore (logically) your head will be smaller.

Or, you could go to a psychiatrist and have them shrink your head for you.

You could wash your head in hot water and put it in the dryer - most other things come out smaller when you do that...

You could be really cool like the neo-hippies and make it a flare hat by adding in a wedge of paisley fabric.

well i don't know what a trilby is, if it's a really expensive hat, this may or may not be a good idea. we would stretch felt hat bases with steam in my theatre maskmaking class. they weren't fancy hats, just felt hats, but i guess the concept would be the same. just put the hat over some steam, for a little while, and when the felt feels more spongey you can stretch it out. in the interest of uniformity i think it would be best to do it on a form of some kind, like a hat sizer, cooking pot, mannequin head, friend's head, etc., rather than just pulling on it.

You could eat your hat.

or

You could put perfume in it and use it to bob for apples

or

You could try get someone to give you a little head.

You might see if there's a shop in the area that can stretch it for you. You don't have a location listed, so this is a shot in the dark, but there's a Western store that sells a big selection of hats, they'd be a good bet...
If it's way too small, it prob won't work, but if it's only a little tight, it may well be manageable.
Or you could just shave your head.

One thing to check on is whether it has a liner or band inside of it. A lot of felt hats will have a band just inside, usually made of grosgrain ribbon (the kind with sideways ribbing), to help keep the shape and to absorb sweat. If there is one, you'll definitely want to take to a pro for stretching, as it will need to be unstitched and reattached once the hat is stretched. If there's no band, you can indeed try steaming it and stretching it yourself. Try to find something with the same diameter as your head at the line where you want the hat to sit. You'll want to use something oval, not circular or it will sit funny on your head...
