OK, just had to share some info...I am not sure whether it is the fact that I am getting better at turning, or if it is the music...but...the album S.T.R.E.E.T. D.A.D. by Out Hud is really really fun to spin to (and is also an *excellent* album in general).

It does seem like there are a lot of young 'uns on here...

So, I did a bit of spinning while I was at the beach...both weeks I was there. The first week I only had glowsticks. And they were a ton of fun. I had never spun with anything aside from practice poi or socks before.

So, after that week, my glo-toobs show up in the mail. I take them to the beach for my second week there and the first night I am spinning with a glo-toob and a glowstick on each chain. Well, lemme tell you, those glo-toobs are HARD with SHARP edges. I managed to split open my eyebrow pretty good. Not bad enough to get stitched up, but it was bloody. Lesson learned, pad the glo-toobs. I nicked some sticky backed bubble wrap from work today and am going to try that. The rest of the week, I just spun with glowsticks, that was just fine. And the four kids under the age of 5 ablsolutely loved the shows. Hopefully I'll have pics to post soon.

I don't think I'll ever tire of my friends' little girl chanting "Yay Unlce Jerry! Go Uncle Jerry!" over and over. Too frickin' cute!

Been a while since I have been on...hibernating through the winter I guess. But have started spinning again recently as I am taking a workshop in Baltimore! YAY! It is being taught by Rebecca "Kumari" Snyder and Kate "Sensoriel" Guntermann; 3 sessions a few weeks apart to give time to practice. Have had one session and it was great. Lots of people who have not touched poi before, but Rebecca and Kate were awesome about checking in on those of us with some experience and offering us more advanced suggestions. I'll hopefully be lighting up for my first burn during the last class. Updates to follow!

Hi maus! Things are pretty good here. My company is a slowly sinking ship, so I need to get of my butt and look for another job, but other than that things are just fine. I've been dating a very nice guy for about a month, so we'll see how that goes. Other than that, not much news. Things good with you?

OK...venting session mad2 (will be long but entertaining I hope):

I went to bad last night after failing to stay awake during a movie. Very eager to get a good night's sleep. Fell asleep at maybe 10:45 or so. Then was rudely awakened by the World's Loudest censored Car Alarm. Tried to fall back asleep. WLFCA would go off for ~30 sec and then be quiet for ~30 sec. After about 10 or 15 times, at 11:05 PM, finally got up to look outside and I could see the offending car. So I call the non-emergency police number to see if there is anything that they can do. Go back to bed. Try to find the perfect combination of having ear plugs in and sandwiching my head between two pillows to kill noise. This takes a while. Finally drown it out. But uncomfortably positioned after a few minutes. This continues for a while.

At 1:20 AM see a cop outside looking at car with flashlight and such. Hooray!! Then sadly see him drive away. Booo! Spin poi for a while for mental health. Then back to bed for pillow-head-pillow sammich. Sleep poorly until I wake up to hear WLFCA still going on...now it is 5:45AM. censored

Alarm clock goes off at 6AM. Seriously want to skip work due to lack of sleep and I know that I will be very cranky all day long and should probably spare my co-workers that. But then I realize, what am I going to do? Stay home and listen to WLFCA? No.

So I get up and make coffee (YAY! for coffee), shower, get dressed and type up a note to leave on the WLFCA car. Said note reads something like this:

Dear Car Owner, You car alarm has been going from this time to this time. That makes about 450 times. Please make sure this doesn't happen again. If it does happen again, I will do everything in my power to have your car towed far enough away where I won't have to listen to the WLFCA all night long. Sincerely, P.O.D.S. (Pissed Off and Sleep Deprived)

It was still going off when I left for work this morning. I shall be calling the building office when they open with the tag number. One way or another, I will not be hearing the WLFCA when I get home this evening. I hope. Please.

I am very proud of myself for not egging the WLFCA car (as it is a brandnewish shiny car).

Venting over....thanks.

Hey Maus!

Glad to hear you are having fun in Brussels. And glad that you enjoyed the book. Is a bit sad, huh? Though at this point you have to wonder how much of it is true, but a good story none the less.

Have a great rest of your trip...
