Hi this is coming up a lot but whats the definitive opinion on what is more important. Are people who learn to spin every move under the sun, but who don't really move much wasting their time?, or is knowing the moves the way to impress? confused

I don't think you have to worry too much about someone not developing their own style. Once they have the basic moves down, the personal style will develop on it's own.

I think the danger in thinking that way is that there is always going to be a new move to learn, and you really have to make an effort to stop and actually just play with the moves you already know.

Now I have another question for you, (and anyone else)
What is more important than Impressing?

Than impressing? If one knows the importance of Poi then one might know the answer to [Old link] ?!?

In my opinion impressing is a value on the scale:

entertaining -> inspiring -> impressing -> intimidating

every single one can have its importance:

entertain the audience biggrin

inspire the community grouphug

impress your teachers eek

intimidate people like robert h. so they can wake up . . . wave

andy . . . meditate

PS: hug to danae and jeff wink

To learn - read. To know - write. To master - teach . . .

Heck I'd pay you to burn that footage. I was so paranoid about the plate I think I just did the weave fast with my poi that night. It was such an uninspired spin I actually remembered being wierded out.

Well, shall we go?

Well at least I... um...

No, there's pretty much no way out of that one.

With as little as I've been poiing and as sucky as I've gotten I think the title of "Icon's Jizz Moper" would be an upgrade.

Haha.

Really though, your spinning on the video seems fine to me. Didnt look like you were wierded out or anything. Perhaps your spinning wasnt as good as it can be, but considering I, along with lots of others, havent seen you spin very much or seen a lot of video footage of you spinning, I dont think anyone will notice. You looked to have performed pretty well on stage, even if your moves werent top notch. The only thing I can say degraded the vid was the angle the camera was at... Somtimes you are spinnig away from the camera and all I can see is your tight sweet ass. ubblol

Send it to you? You mean for free? Yeah right, I can probably get like 6 dollars for it on ebay!

And god knows what NYC will pay for me to burn it now smile

You can do with it what you like. I'm only kidding about caring. I honestly do remember it being a really uninspired spin because I was so stressed about the plate.

I think I did the weave, some mediocre isolations, and then got off stage to go party. I'm certainly not embarassed about it, it's just a bit bland. I thought everyone else was really pumped that night and I wasn't feeling the poi.

Sure, post it if you want. *shrug*
