Posted:you dont need a vid, if you know what an atomic is, just try and make weave motions inside it

this is a 3+ years of spinning move tho, if you havent got perfect two plane controle, forget it.

oh and for grass, an atomic is when the planes are at 90 degrees to each other

Nx, I learn pretty quick, how much time spinning move are:

5bt BF weave?
corkscrew hyperloop?

i've been doing poi for only a year and maybe a month and I know those, and alot more (need I say that I'm the best spinner in israel? hehe but there are WAY less spinners than jugglers) I also know BF buzzsaw hyperloop, and some cool trick one of my teachers taught me. I also don't care about the difficulty of a trick, I can do a 4 ball umbrella (akas: rainbow, arches) and I can't do 4 ball sync. did I get my point across?

now, Nx, I respect you and all, but next time, DON'T go into my vid thread and tell ppl that I don't need a vid, I REALLY need one!
ok? thank you...

umm

what was your point exactly?

that you are the 'best' in isreal after only a year of spinning?

that you like to learn complex tricks before you have a grasp of the basics?

well done.

i fully admit i was more interested in the technical side of poi when i was spinning lots, but i still made sure i could spin with clean planes and learnt the fundamentals first.

why would you want to *only* be able to juggle a 4b half shower (unless you were talking about 4b wimpy, which *is* one of the sync 4b base patterns)?

nx - you said you had atomic weaves before you could turn.

but if that is the benchmark now i guess i can't do them.

i can turn 90 deg if that counts but i don't think it does.

and no, i haven't started spinning poi again yet.

but i can almost do hi-middle-lo 4b showers wink

Posted:sry nx, thats not what i call an atomic weave. I looks like a iso ttn weave ALMOST atomic. Unfortunatly the only clip i have is a 1/2 atomic weave as well so i cant talk either. :P Then again, there are so many atomics now its hard to define.

My fav being , turn your weave horozontal (like the REAL defnition of inverted not arashi's inverted) and thats my atomic weave looks like. It should feel like your poi are going to fall out of the sky (almost 1/2 isolated) and something has gone badly wrong. Well untill u can do it clean anyway, cause after that, its one of the best "feeling" moves i can perform.

I'll shoot some video, if i ever get around to it, then u can see what im doing and call it what u like.

i've only seen one person do a really clean atomic weave: non-hopper Adam of the North (well, Coventry is northish...)

When he does it well, it looks the shiznit.

i seem to remember spiralx showing me one that looked pretty spiffy too.

ah, i spose its all aesthetics and therefore unprovable...

unfortunately my crappy dialup connection forbids me to pass comment on the myfirstatom vid, even after the server change frown

Posted:well, now that I completly understand an atomic weave, Im pleasantly suprised it's more or less what I pictured.

Unlike the butterfly weave which proved I have no idea how to understand text description of poi moves.

Im pretty sure atomic flowers are going to follow the pattern of waist wraps and butterfly weaves and prove I have no ability to comprehend textual poi move descriptions.

ps-much like waist wraps and butterfly weaves (and hyperloops), I see it's going to be very hard for anyone to agree on what exactly is an atomic weave.

nah, you misread man - not hi-lo shower (9151), hi-middle-lo shower (b17131) ubbangel

but that's off topic, especially as i can't really do it wink

i agree with simian - as far as i know, northern ad made this move up.
and imho, he has planes cleaner than even drew's or pk's so it looks gorgeous when he spins it.

not sure where 'big cock swinging' comes into all this dave...? confused

simian, adam has badass physical coridination, and hes been training for more than three years.

and like i said, its ropey as hell, i recon its another couple of years just to get it looking good. The vid isnt ment to look 'hot' or anyhting, i put it up against my better judgement because a few peaple requested something to learn from, so there it is.

I dont thing atoms will ever really look good on video, but irl on fire i think it will be rather pretty.

I agree with you dragon, its not quite atomic yet, needs cleaning.

later folks.

I watched the video and tried the trick and I had no problems with it . So can anyone tell me what's so difficult about this move ? I mean maybe I am doing it wrong ...

and why do you claim that it looks paticulary good with fire ?

matt, your box weave is diffrent from mine, I think (and correct me if im wrong) that to do a poipoipoi box weave you are twisting the planes through 90 degrees each time. whereas with mine you are keeping the same planes all the time, they are just offset by 90 degrees.

Posted:I think i had it wrong.

I think box planes touch each other at the edges.

atomic planes cross at the center

When i do box planes i consider it a 'Space Modifier'

The pattern remains identical but the entire plane that the pattern exists in is warped through 90 degrees.

eg 3 Bt Box Weave:

I end up with 3 beats on 1 face of the box, then instead of moving to the opposite face of the box (like a regular weave) I shift the whole thing for 3 beats of the face touching the first.

Then you can go back to the first face or continue round the box. This works equally well whether the spinning weave style or butterfly style.
