Long long time ago I was sitting at my desk at work. I wasn’t doing anything interesting just the usual updating data bases and filing letters. Now at work there was a small mother a child group holding one of their special days for the kids. Up the stairs walked a man called Luke. He carried all of these strange things, said he came for the circus skills workshop day we were holding and asked for a helping hand. So I helped him to set things up.

We did a bit of juggling with balls and scarves. Balanced peacock feathers on our faces and we were really having fun. Then out of his bag he pulled some balls on string. One of the other mum’s faces lit up ran over and grabbed them with this huge smile on her face. As she went outside we all followed curious to what these things were. Before we knew what was truly going on we were mesmerized. The balls on string had what appeared to have streamers on the ends which made a gentle noise and the most amazing patterns I have ever seen. And all this from balls on string so I just had to have a go. I tried my best and my goodness was it harder than it looked.

As soon as I got home the internet was switched on before the kettle. I had to find out what they were called. So I googled “Spinning balls on strings”

The first site I came to was called Home Of Poi so I double clicked to see what it was all about. I first read the history and then thought would go and have a look in the gallery. Talk about shocked…. It could be done with Fire!!! And there was a huge community dedicated to it… and not just one online community but loads all over he world. Why had I never heard of this before? How do I make them? And where could I learn just how to do it? So I searched the forum, read loads of posts and then Huzahhh I found the free online Poi lessons. Straight upstairs I ran to get the longest pair of socks I could find then ran back down again trying to find matching balls or just something to put in the bottom ad tied a knot at the top. Next step was to click on the first lesson…..

And that’s the day I got hooked to Poi.

Since then I have been to quite a few meets and have started our own which has infected lots more people in our town to learn to spin.

I do more now than just Poi and for the first time in my life have a whole bunch of fantastic friends who I feel I can turn to for anything life throws at me.

Who am I? Well………………….

so hows it going with peeps. I am going to try and get back into the swing on HOP again censored the ex husband and what he thinks, he's shown his true colours and to be honest i don't see why i should stop my life because he doesn't agree with it. i know i am a good mum, you can tell as my kids are great and he has nothing to do with it, i am the one who has brought them up and well they are fantastic.

so the performing and things are going not too bad. i am starting to finaly build up my portfolio, i have stilts too. Both my boys are learning to ride the unicyle and are doing really well. my oldest can do it and my youngest is getting there. Honestly they do me more than proud, they are open minded independant children, who love life.

My BPD is still as ever ruling my life, i am being re-assesed for DBT as i had to stop going to it last year as i couldn't find a sitter for the kids. i am hoping that this year its going to be different. i have decided not to listen to the people who keep on telling my that i can not be a good mother and have a mental illness. i got into a big argument with someone over msn who was trying to say that all people with mental health problems should not have children as they can not look after them properly eek so they are now not on my msn contacts. Honestly. sure some mornings i am a mess and would rather stay in bed, but i don't. some days my oldest does cook dinner if i have had a bad day, but he's 13 now eek and can cook really well. He also understands more than most adults about my illness. every one has their issues and deal with them in their own way and if it works then great if not they seek help and try and get through it.

so yes things are still all over the place but in a much more organised way biggrin

hugs to all and i am going to get more coffee hug

i love you guys. its an odd feeling getting things back on track i have spent the past year under a duvet, hell i even found it uber hard to get out of the tent at play last year. the way i am feeling now is new and rather scary, i know i am never going to get better i am just going to be able to deal with it better and thats fine by me. i am still going to have bad days i just need to concentrate on the good ones when i have them rather than waiting for the next bad patch. I am fed up with trying to convince myself that i need to change who i am and how i am. I have finaly got on the steps to accepting i am me and doing something to get my life where i want it.
so yes i am thinking loads and everything is still in the thought process but hell i can actually feel like i am getting there.

That is the most important step anyone can take.

I have Tourette's and it can make life hard sometimes, but it's part of me and I accept it.

noooo it is alot of money, ok not as much as a months wages but its going to take alot of work to save up to be able to afford it, i don't get money to treat them so i am thinking about just making more hoops and festie stuff to see to try and get the money, if not hmmmmmm i will need a plan B. The school have been really understanding though and have said i can pay little by little, which is good as the £50 norefundable deposit was due today.

*dusts off thread abit and turns up the heat in the pool*

*yawns* hows peeps this morning?

me well my youngest is off school with a bad throat. i am woried about my oldest. ok nothing new there as i am a mum and he is a teenager but the fact that his waste of time father isn't seeing him anymore has really got to him. but hell i am not going to go into a grr about it, i did everything i could i have even been told that the censored has removed pics etc off his myspace profile off my oldest. nothing like totaly forgetting about the fact you have a son i guess makes it easier for you to come to terms with what a crap father you are i guess.
Anyway (yeah i know but it was only a little rant) my son has a nice stable home and he knows that i will never give up on him.

i am not far off getting the money together for the germany school trip, its been alot of hard work but its going to be so worth it.

both kids (like me) are uber excited about Play this year. last year they were so well behaved they did me more than proud and well i think they had more fun than i did. we need a bigger tent though so i need to hunt down the one in the loft and work out how to put it together biggrin apparently its huge.. the tent not the loft.

hopefuly in the next couple of weeks i should have my living room and arty stuff room will be decorated and this friday i am going to be fire hooping. i am all excited as i can do more than just spin it around my waist now. should be loads of fun and i now hove a fire hoop on my list of toys i want... first being fire fans biggrin
