So here I am again. It's been a while hasn't it. My alto sax initially got a lot of use. Funny isn't it, how a fulltime job takes away all your spare time. Haven't had any time to poi too, apart from Jugglejam on Mondays and the monthly Moonfests. And even then, it somehow seems I tend to play with the stockwhip instead of poi shrug

Another lens has been added to the stable too. A Canon EF-S 10-22 3.5-4.5.. nice and wiide. But it all boils back down to that time issue. Despite having the new lens, I seem to find I'm out taking less pictures.. the folio hasn't been updated in a while, and I'm starting to get the horrible feeling I'm stagnating. Must. Get out of this rut.

If you're my muse and reading this, inspiration needed now. hug

-Edited 14 Dec 2005-

I liken this to opening the fridge to find that jar of misc what's it, several months expired ubblol. Hey how's it going? wave

So what's new! Well.. poi's getting a bit better for one thing. Nice how after poi-ing for a while, you stop hitting yourself senseless. In fact, one might argue how after a certain point, each hit puts more sense into you.. wink Haven't gone skating or rockclimbing in a bit, but that's ok- life's full of wonderful distractions, and really, you can only do a couple at a time.

University's just wrapped up! Yep. A degree in art & visual culture, television & digital media.. Just waiting for a piece of paper at the moment (yay!). And trying to sort out how Australia will let me live here forever and ever biggrin. Have I mentioned how wonderful it is, you so ought to visit *nudge* wink Also been getting out the with photography and stuff- a couple of projects to follow up on, blue skies and puffy clouds as far as I can see.

Updates updates. [insert geek] I've updated my camera gear too.. my 20D, 17-85 4-5.6 IS and 580EX now have a 70-200 2.8L IS to play with.. soon too, riding on getting a particular gig, either a 350D and a 24-105 f4 IS, or another 20D.. -grin- [/end geek]

[edit 14/12/05: Gig didn't go through, and ended up performing at it instead of shooting it ubblol Life has a funny way of messing you about doesn't it.. so no 2nd body for me just yet, or nice 24-105 f4 IS redface]

Been taking lots of photos lately. I think there's something intrinsically beautiful in capturing moments- you know how you look at a photo and it brings you back to where you were that day, who you were with, how the air smelt even.. Maybe one day I'll get to exhibit ubblove.. but yeah.. lots of work to be done meantime.

Hmmmm.. yes the world's beautiful today. It's good to have new toys, new moves, new direction.. old friends hug.. a best friend hug2, and enough distractions not to get bored for too long.

Btw.. favourite words haven't changed.. ubbrollsmile And mm.. I'm still not too close to balletic, and dulcet..

Hmm.. la la la laaa squawk.. footinmouth

[edit 14/12/05: I now have a beautiful alto saxophone- the best use of which I have thus far found, is to attract ducks and other misc waterfowl]

Yep, how about we say still aspiring. biggrin

Hope all's well with everyone- don't be strangers now! hug biggrin

I've been exploring this site a bit lately, and have decided everyone seems like a nice bunch- thought it's about time I said hello. Ryan, 24, born in Singapore, but Brisbane Australia has been home to me for the past 3 years.

I love photography, playing the guitar (if one took a picture of me with my guitar, it looks like I'm playing it- does that count?), getting from point A to B on my trusty mountain bike, inline skating and hockey, occasionally rockclimbing, and just being in good company. I'd also like to add poiing to the list when I stop hitting myself senseless.

Irrelevantly, my two favourite words (I've got heaps if anyone's interested) are 'balletic' and 'dulcet'. 'Balletic', unfortunately, isn't a word I'd use to describe anything I can do, and 'dulcet' is a word I haven't dreamt of aspiring towards yet.

Enough for now, don't be strangers! biggrin

I say trip-tick too.. Whenever I have to say it.. and that's not very often.

That actually reminds me. Now I have to whinge. If there's one thing I absolutely hate- it's when Aussie newscasters go 'it was an horrific moment..' And they pronounce the 'h' too.. I mean.. an horh-rifik?? mad2 It's still not that bad if you don't pronounce the h and give it a bit of an English accent, but annnn horh-rifik?? ARGH.

Compose yourself, Ryan..

nah, if you pronounce the 'h' it isn't correct surely? if you say "an orrific" thats understandable, yet somewhat wankey. if your gonna pronounce the 'h' though, it 'a horrific'

lol! A dream philosopher? Hardly.. Speaking of which. It's going to sound -really- loopy, but I had my first ever lucid dream the other day! You know when you're in a dream but you know what's going on and can control what you do?

Might have been because I was listening to some friends (Kyle and Jesse) going on about it. One tip I got was if you ever find yourself in an awkward or strange situation, ask yourself 'is this a dream?' and if you're not sure, try and look for some text. Apparently in a dream you can't really read text- it'll look garbled, or will morph in front of your eyes.

Somehow I managed to find myself in front of a noticeboard, next to a widescreen tv with someone playing a brightly coloured computer game with cheesy but funky music. I thought it was kinda weird, and I asked myself if it was a dream, and then went to look for some text. I saw the noticeboard and I thought it said something like Tim Curry (no idea why).. and was disappointed.. then suddenly it went all garbled like Japanese or Mandarin characters, but not.

Instantly I was 'hey COOL.' and managed to look around a bit, consciously, before letting the excitement take over, waking me up.

I think part of it was aided by the fact I was catnapping and knew I had to wake up in 2 hours time for something, without an alarm clock. Don't think I slept too deeply, hence the dream. Was a really bizarre experience I thought..

Oligopolies.. nah. I like a word with a nice definition too. I put oligopolies and economics together. Nup. You'll have to think of another one to impress me tongue wink

In the meantime, another 5 for you: elegie, fluor, rhubarb, tinder and mimetic. biggrin

yeah, i think i looked up the pronunciation in the dictionary years ago, so that i could properly pronounce that album biggrin but the woman that said trip titch has done her honors in creative arts, so i thought that she must have been right. oh well, that teaches me that i should never doubt myself ever again, regardless of how wrong i may me biggrin

alrighty then, Mr Panickety.....how about onomatopoeia? smile you must admit i have a slight disadvantage here, wot with having to think of these on the spot rather than consult a collection wink
i think its amazing you had a lucid dream, iv never had a dream i can control before. i had a dream once about visiting this building at night with loads of secret passages in and then a few nights later i had the same dream but i remembered id been there before and i knew my way around. i also had a dream once where something really horrible was happening but i said in my dream 'its ok, its only a dream'. my mum says that a good start to being able to control your dreams is to look down at your hands.
its odd you asked that question about birth blind people dreaming cuz i used to have that conversation all the time with one of my exes. we wondered whether or not they see colours etc.
im afraid, mook that i am, i dont know the meanings for all but im becoming increasingly impressed with your little collection of verbal diamonds ubbrollsmile

Nope onomatopoeia didn't make it either.. sorry ubblol

That whole lucid dream thing was really bizarre. Even by my standards. I think it partially occured because I went to sleep knowing it was just a nap and I had to wake up (without an alarm to help me). Couldn't possibly fall into a very deep sleep that way.. which I'm guessing increased the dream activity. I've actually heard someone say something about looking down at your hands- that sounds quite useful and I'll keep it in mind. Probably easier than asking yourself 'is this a dream?' too..

So in the discussion with your ex, do they see colours?

Yes, admittedly, you are at a slight disadvantage.. I've nurtured this list for a while now.. Everyone should have one too biggrin As for a couple more, how about mellifluous, katydid, poppies, intaglio and susurrus ubbrollsmile

we didnt come to a decision i dont think. i reckon they possibly do just dont know what it is they're seeing, if that makes sense?
i know some blind people can feel colours cuz my mum worked in a shoe shop once and this blind woman came in looking to buy her wedding shoes and when my mum brought out a style colour etc that the woman had requested she (the woman) started stroking the shoes and was like 'they're a bit too dark really, i was looking for something lighter'
think that im swimming upstream a bit here with the word thing. i collect other things im afraid. ill ponder on it and try to think of a real goodun to blow you away ubbidea
am intrigued....what's 'kaytdid'? sounds suspiciously made up to me wink
