So here I am again. It's been a while hasn't it. My alto sax initially got a lot of use. Funny isn't it, how a fulltime job takes away all your spare time. Haven't had any time to poi too, apart from Jugglejam on Mondays and the monthly Moonfests. And even then, it somehow seems I tend to play with the stockwhip instead of poi shrug



Another lens has been added to the stable too. A Canon EF-S 10-22 3.5-4.5.. nice and wiide. But it all boils back down to that time issue. Despite having the new lens, I seem to find I'm out taking less pictures.. the folio hasn't been updated in a while, and I'm starting to get the horrible feeling I'm stagnating. Must. Get out of this rut.

So what's new! Well.. poi's getting a bit better for one thing. Nice how after poi-ing for a while, you stop hitting yourself senseless. In fact, one might argue how after a certain point, each hit puts more sense into you.. wink Haven't gone skating or rockclimbing in a bit, but that's ok- life's full of wonderful distractions, and really, you can only do a couple at a time.



University's just wrapped up! Yep. A degree in art & visual culture, television & digital media.. Just waiting for a piece of paper at the moment (yay!). And trying to sort out how Australia will let me live here forever and ever biggrin. Have I mentioned how wonderful it is, you so ought to visit *nudge* wink Also been getting out the with photography and stuff- a couple of projects to follow up on, blue skies and puffy clouds as far as I can see.



Updates updates. [insert geek] I've updated my camera gear too.. my 20D, 17-85 4-5.6 IS and 580EX now have a 70-200 2.8L IS to play with.. soon too, riding on getting a particular gig, either a 350D and a 24-105 f4 IS, or another 20D.. -grin- [/end geek]



[edit 14/12/05: Gig didn't go through, and ended up performing at it instead of shooting it ubblol Life has a funny way of messing you about doesn't it.. so no 2nd body for me just yet, or nice 24-105 f4 IS redface]



Been taking lots of photos lately. I think there's something intrinsically beautiful in capturing moments- you know how you look at a photo and it brings you back to where you were that day, who you were with, how the air smelt even.. Maybe one day I'll get to exhibit ubblove.. but yeah.. lots of work to be done meantime.



Hmmmm.. yes the world's beautiful today. It's good to have new toys, new moves, new direction.. old friends hug.. a best friend hug2, and enough distractions not to get bored for too long.



Btw.. favourite words haven't changed.. ubbrollsmile And mm.. I'm still not too close to balletic, and dulcet..

I've been exploring this site a bit lately, and have decided everyone seems like a nice bunch- thought it's about time I said hello. Ryan, 24, born in Singapore, but Brisbane Australia has been home to me for the past 3 years.



I love photography, playing the guitar (if one took a picture of me with my guitar, it looks like I'm playing it- does that count?), getting from point A to B on my trusty mountain bike, inline skating and hockey, occasionally rockclimbing, and just being in good company. I'd also like to add poiing to the list when I stop hitting myself senseless.



Irrelevantly, my two favourite words (I've got heaps if anyone's interested) are 'balletic' and 'dulcet'. 'Balletic', unfortunately, isn't a word I'd use to describe anything I can do, and 'dulcet' is a word I haven't dreamt of aspiring towards yet.

How long is he staying for? I'll be away from Wednesday to Saturday, so no juggling for me this week (don't think I'll make it to the meadows today, maybe for a few minutes before I freeze!!)
Actually trying to hoop was good fun though it made me remember that somewhere in my stomach there are actually muscles (ouch!)

Lol! First 2 poiple I meet are a riot- excellent stuff! Molly, I'm very glad I'm not in the to-be-mashed basket. I also should put you in touch with a friend of mine sometime- he was in his kitchen the other day, saw a fly buzzing around, and being silly, he did a a massive kick in the general direction of the buzz. Unlucky fly hurtled towards the wall before landing on the floor, dead as a doorknob. He couldn't believe it himself!

Hiya Birgit! Ah you speak of make-you-hoola friends. Can't say I have any of those yet. As for penguins, they are evil to the core. Especially those which wear red rubber gloves on their heads masquerading as chickens to rob jewellery stores.. What about you- where do you stand on this controversial issue?

actually I really like penguins. But I agree that the Wallace and Gromit one is evil, I used to have a t-shirt with it. Unfortunately, it got exposed to some acid in the lab years ago, and subsequently washed with all the ex-boyfriends's black clothes, so now it's an interesting shade of grey and has holes in it!

Oh don't mind me Molly- it's great being hijacked. If I had known, I'd have taken out travel insurance. It pays AUD1000 for every hour the hijackers have me biggrin

I was mostly in Devon with the folks, but I did manage to sneak out to Oxford, Aylesbury and London. Was a pretty good trip, but I have a vendetta with whoever it is who designs British 'showers'. Or rather, with whoever it is who doesn't design British showers, and instead replaces them with little drippy telephone like taps at the foot of baths. Like, wot the! confused2

My brother lives in Devon. Just so you know.

If you put flies in the fridge they go to sleep and then you can do what you like. We have painted ones downstairs, but someone round here was telling me about flies on a string (be kind children - untie your fly and let it free)

But really- re me and penguins, I suppose I like the idea of a penguin, aesthetically pleasing and adorably gumbie (especially fairy penguins! not a big fan of the monster ones)- but I probably wouldn't like a penguin in real life just because they're still rather birdy aren't they?

I couldn't possibly agree with you more! Twin taps are the epitome of Luddite design. Yet my mum and stepdad go ahead and put it in their kitchen because 'it looks nice and classic'. The madness!

No amount of paint could enough disguise a winged maggot (yes, a fly without wings is a maggot. not a 'walk')! Death to them all!



Molly, when you say 'go to sleep', are they're still alive and do they wake up later?

Nice logic. I still loathe them though, wings or no wings. However, given the choice between putting an end to 5 flies or 1 mosquito, I think the flies might get a brief reprieve.

Back to the negotiating table though- would you settle for boogly-eyed-six-legged-grownup-maggots?

these flies are far bigger than mosquitoes and their bites hurt much more
and they have fatter tummy monsters to feed
so no reprive then

tomorrows joy is learning to inject LPS into their haemolymph to try to induce an immune response then see what effect that has on the symbiotic bacteria with our bestest friend real time PCR. Then repeat with infected flies and see the effect on tryps.

I don't want to hold infected flies and stick them with needles frown They scare me.

meditate Hmm.. are you doing any microarray experiments to examine differential expression as a response to LPS? RT-PCR doesn't provide the full picture, does it?
