Atop a hill by the sea, as nightfall comes, he stands guard at the outskirts of the village, patiently awaiting her return. Three torches of flame mark a bastion of safety - one to mark the flickering determination she will require, another for fiery courage, and the last for the passionate bond the two share that will draw her back into his arms. She will be cold and alone on her perilous journey, but there will be a guiding star to bring her home. She will see him standing tall in the distance, flames burning brightly, marking her journeys end. His eyes harden their gaze into the flames. The fire flickers and swirls intensely, beautiful yellows, earthly oranges and intense reds flow into each other, sharpening his senses, his focus, and his determination. He does not eat. He does not sleep. He only waits. Like a Roman sentry he stands his ground and awaits the arrival of his love with sharp, unbreakable discipline.
