I was wondering if anyone had any experience using any of the following methods to remove excess fuel from fire poi and what your experience of using any of them are? i.e. what are their strengths/ weakness and why do you use the method you currently use (and why don't you use methods you've tried and discarded).
- Spinning off, no spin off bottle/ bucket/ can - Spinning off, with spin off bottle/ bucket/ can (homemade) - Spinning off, with spin off bottle/ bucket/ can (specifically manufactured) - Dripping off into the paraffin bucket - Squeezing off wearing rubber gloves - Squeezing off into a towel inside a plastic carrier bag
I'm trying to find out a bit more about the methods people use/ don't use and why/ why not for a project I'm working on.
Posted:- Dripping off into the paraffin bucket <<do this all the time beforehand as in my head im saving a lot of paraffin by shaking them back into the bucket. in reality im probably not saving much and if it was my only method for getting rid of excess then it would probably take forever
- Spinning off, no spin off bottle/ bucket/ can <<used to prefer this method but there are quite a lot of problems with it (makes the ground slippy, covers everyone nearby, environmental factors, etc) but its the quickest and keeps my hands dry
- Squeezing off into a towel inside a plastic carrier bag <<the method i use now (though i put a bit of wood underneath as plastic bags get too religious at times....holy....they get holes. nevermind) as it keeps the ground from getting slippy, everyone nearby wont get covered, its the greenest option with only a couple drops escaping the towel. the only downsides are your hands are guaranteed to be covered in paraffin (i always forget rubber gloves, though i have a feeling the gloves may not look too good in the middle of a show) and you have an extra item to worry about catching fire back stage (the towel)
theres probably other things but thats all i can think of for now. hope it helps
I dont want to be called 'the greatest' or 'one of the greats'; let other guys claim to be the best. I just want to be known as a clown, to me thats the height of my profession. It means you can do everything-sing, dance, and above all, make people laugh
