hes simply changing the passing point; when doing the butterfly you kinda bounce your hands up and down, this way ends up bouncing more left and right. if that method isnt working for you then speed up one poi for half a beat.

if you watch carefully in the vid he does the 'bounce' left/right by rocking his hand like hes turning a door handle
