Posted: Hi everyone, I wanted to let the HOP community know about an exciting event that the Monash Club of Juggling And Firetwirling is hosting for the end of exams. On the 22nd of November there will be a day of fun for jugglers and spinners and all manner of circus enthusiasts. There will be workshops for beginners through to advanced with some of Melbournes best performers on hand to teach. The event will be held on the Monash University Clayton campus on 'the lemon scented' lawns from midday till 11pm.
The day of workshops and jamming will culminate in a fire-twirling competition with over $700 in prizes. There is 2 criteria for the competition. Beginners - Less than 1 year experience 'Non-Beginners'- More than 1 year experience
It is an 'amateur' competition so if you have a regular income as a performer this makes you ineligible to enter. Routines must be less than 5 minutes in length with music on 2 audio cd's preferably of different brands to ensure they work. The details for the judging criteria etc are on the facebook event https://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/event.php?eid=140835936815&index=1 and the website which I don't have yet but will post within the next few days. General entry price is $15 which includes the whole day. Competition Entry: Beginner Division: $25 individual / $40 group. Non-Beginner Division: $30 individual / $50 group.
The purpose of the event is to create an environment where anybody interested in juggling and fire-twirling has the opportunity to spend the day hanging out with other people in the community and hopefully walk away inspired by any new skill and new friends that they've created or seen.
Please register your intention to enter the competition at firstname.lastname@example.org
