Ah. There is nothing similar that I have heard of in RSA. Is a pity.

uber sad face. i love fencing. it's acctualy much more like a very quick game of chess than i sport. it is really entertaining to see these big full of them self manly men getting their asses beat by people with a much higher intellegence

Well, there is fencing, but that is the modern sport style. Which has never really appealed.

The whole medieval fencing style and weaponry has long been a fascination. But there is nothing like the SCA or Renfaires over here.

you are definantly missing out. we love to make fun of olympic fencers, especialy when they try to do historical fencing. in olympic the head is not a target so they've never trained to pretect their face. so we just keep pegging them right in the face! hehehe

Surely that depends on which category, with either epee or foil allowing the whole body and the other being limited to torso only?

well what i've come to learn in that in all olympic fencing the head is not a target, where as the historical 1500's fencing that i do, if it can bleed it counts!!!

Pretty much the approach we take in Goju-Ryu. If it works, go with it.
