Posted:I'v been told of a "Magic Wire" old that is used in "Close Up Match Magic" that works off a nickle cadneum battery(pardon my spelling),that when curent is aplyed it heats and lights the match and then desolves and must be "reloaded or set up" b4 each time said match trick is done..?

its been reffered to me as "nickel wire" but all searches have done me no good..

i will "Gladly" disclose the workings of "My Trick" and share it with anyone that might be able to point me in the right derection??

Posted:Well, it will be a resistor of some description. Nichrome possibly?

I am not sure that it would disappear afterwards though....

'We're all mad here. I'm mad, you're mad." [said the Cat.]
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "Or you wouldn't have come here."

Empty your mind. Be formless, Shapeless, like Water.
Put Water into a cup, it becomes the cup, put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle, put water into a teapot, it becomes the teapot.
Water can flow, or it can Crash.

Or not-evil twin. Could go either way, really.. wink

Amd I can't help with the trick, though it does sound intriguing...

Posted:The trick you describe involves using a hidden electric igniter and/or some sort of heating filament, probably made from thin steel wool strand type of material, that either provides electric spark or heat for ignition. The smaller battery is easier to conceal and produce a less dangerous current. (Do more research electricity can be as dangerous as fireexcl) A heat filament works by resisting electricity while conducting the resulting heat and in the process producing heat it often radiates light. (Look inside a toaster.)Using the wrong sort of material for a heat element can cause it to melt or even spark off in a short.(Scary and more costly to you than whatever $money$ you might save excl) I'm also interested in combining fire performance and juggling/dexterity play into a magic act. I would love to hear more about your research into this trick and what method you use to finally achieve this illusion. Also have you tried Wire Grams or any of the other popular fire conjuring effects/gimmicks?
