Posted: I started spinning a while ago when I stumbled over a spinner at a Fairy festival. I have a friend who's been spinning fire for several years but I never thought that I could do it. Then I tried it and when I occasionally get to see him he shows me some stuff. about six months or so ago I decided to get serious about it and made a simple kit, then I bought some purple Fluffies and instructional video from HoP. I just placed another order yesterday for glowpoi, flags and another video. I'm really loving Poi and astounding people at my other extra-curricular activities. (They're impressed even though I'm not that good yet.)
Name: My name is Adrianne, but I've gone by Silk for years.
Location: Right now I'm in North Virginia, US, very close to Washington, DC.
Hometown: Born and raised in NE Philly.
Birthday (sign?): July 27, I'm a Leo.
Age: 26
Sex: Female
Occupation(s): Right now I'm an office manager at a construction supply company.
Favorite Food(s): Um, I love food. I'm an omnivore and will eat most anything. I like steaks best, seafood least, pile on the broccoli and look out for your sweets!
Favorite Color(s): Purple and green.
What is the wing speed of an unladen swallow? Would that be an african or a european swallow?
Toys: I have Purple Fluffies with ballchain and glowsticks on bootlaces. My non spinning toys include a variety of padded weapons, my favorite toy is my bow with which i shoot padded arrows into the unsuspecting faces of fellow Dagorhirrim.
Hobbies other than the obvious: Other than spinning I enjoy playing Dagorhir, it is a foam weapon combat sport whose background ranges from medeival Europe and anchient Rome to Tolkien's Middle Earth.
Education: I completed High School then thought I knew it all and didn't go to college. I was obviously wrong and plan on continuing my education in the near future.
Favorite Book(s): I will read anything! My favorite book is always the one I just finished, unless it was awful. My most recent finish is Zalazney's Lord of Light. Very interesting, somewhat convoluted.
Favorite Movie(s): I couldn't choose! I love movies with good costuming, some action an interesting plot and caracters that you feel something for.
Godzilla vs. a Star Wars Star Destroyer. Who wins? I would have to say that the Star Destroyer wins.
Why? Because as far as I know Godzilla has no means of propulsion in space, therefore could never reach the Star Destroyer in the first place, where the Star Destroyer can blast Godzilla in orbit, if not killing him outright then trapping him in the molten rock and slag produced by it's lasers and cannons hitting the surface of the soon to be barren planet that Godzilla happens to be inhabiting. (please pardon the run-on)
Favorite TV show(s): I watch mainly the History Channel, Boomerang, Cartoon Network, Discovery, Animal Planet. As for shows it's mostly what's on, but I am catching up on Smallville (I'm on season 3) and I do own the first season of Charmed.
Plans for life in general: (i.e. what you want to do when you grow up) I'm constantly changing my mind about what I want to do with myself. This week I'm thinking I just won't grow up.
Favorite Music Artists/Composers: I like most music where I can learn the song and sing along. I don't like rap and for some reason I never got a taste for country. My favorite artists include Dream Theater, Sting (with and without the Police), Led Zep, A Perfect Circle, Alanis Morrisette, Metallica, and I love Mozart even though it is apparent that he hates my kind. (That is Sopranos, not Elves.)
Do you think these pants make my butt look too big? You're wearing pants?
Favorie ice cream flavor(s): Mint Chocolate Chip, Cookie Dough, Cookies and Cream, Chocolate
Marmite, Vegemite, or Nutella?* Of the three, I've only tried Nutella, I liked it but I'm not going to sign up for the fanclub. Myself, I perfer marshmallow fluff. Mmmmm... Fluffernutter sandwiches are the BEST!

Posted: Hey folks, thanks for the welcoming words. I've been perusing the forums and my head is spinning more than my poi. I don't understand half of the terms used and reading people's discriptions of moves makes very little sense to me. I figure this will take some time (and perhaps a computer with a flash player) to overcome, but I'm confident I'll understand in time.

Posted: ten points for rhyming your favorite foods! Negative one point for not joining Team Nutella.
getting used to the forums can be a little daunting, the videos and the search bar will help you out a lot there.

Posted: Last night I tried nuttella and marshmallow fluff on a rice cake; rice cakes are still bland and flavorless but the combination was pretty good. There may be some hope for me and Nutella yet, still not joining the cult though.
Unrelated update: After watching a video on hyperloops a few weeks ago I finally actually devoted some time to getting it down last night. I am not at all consistant and I have no idea how to use it in practical application but I can do a modest hyperloop now.
