My parents took me to see it at the cinema, and mum figured out the ending pretty early so she thought she'd soften the blow for me by telling me and preparing me...but then i started bawling my eyes out in the cinema. oops!

ooooh... anne mccaffrey...!! I actually fell for her books via the crystal singer series (only 3 of em, but appealed to the frustrated muso in me).
