Hello there all you lovely lovely hoppers!

It's my great pleasure to tell you all that in 2008 the Brittish Juggling Convention will be celebrating its 21st birthday in good old Sheffield up in South Yorkshire.

At the moment everything is still in the early planning stages, and as such we do not have a confirmed date and venue for you, hence why this post has not been put up in the 'events' section, but watch this space and very soon we'll be able to give you all a definate date to put in your calendar..!

In the meantime, any helpful suggestions for things like workshops, games and activities etc.. would be grately appreciated. all ideas will be considered, and of course, let us know how many of you will be up for coming up north and taking part in what is always, a hugely entertaining and enjoyable convention for all the family..

peace n pineapples

watch this space..... x

suggestions: (not intended as a this is what nottingham did wrong... cos they did a damn good job, but some circumstances were against them)

Don't have the renegade in the 24 hour hall / practise area. AT least, not with practising going on around it. It was practically impossible to hear the renegade presenters, because of all the background noise, and they even had a PA system...
It also kinda kills the atmosphere of the renegade when what's going on outside is more interesting than the acts.
If the space is too big that the presenters and participants can't hear the heckles what is the point of having a renegade? So I would say try and keep the space to a big but still cosy size, if ya can.

It was a real shame, I thought I was going to experience the legendary British heckling of lore, but it was entirely impossible in the environment of the BJC notts.

Make the workshop board REALLY big.

If somebody cancels a workshop, don't tell anyone, just rub their name off the board and write: "Trick swap" instead. Same if you have lots of people interested a workshop but nobody to lead it, just make up a time and place and write trick swap, and peoples natural curiosity and desire to show off their tricks will take over. And probably one of the workshoppers will naturally take on the leader role. The BJC will have a lot of jugglers at it... enough to make a trick swap for most any prop I should imagine.

Bring in a coupla trained dancers to do dance workshops for manipulators. That would rock.

have a flag in the camping field that says: HOP camp, so we know where to be. biggrin

hehe.. well dont you worry guys, that girly will be dragged up if i have to run down south and piggy-back her all the way back to sheffield.. pole dancing, not sure about that one.. i could pole dance for ya, would it have the same effect? i know it would for mech ;-P and yes ya big goon you can have some floor space, althought to be honest we'll all be on site the whole time dependent on where in the city it ends up being held, and everyone cant beat on ya in the night if your hidden away at mine, so no i retract that, you're gonna be where everyone can smell ya! :-P

ta for the suggestions meg, some very good points about the renegade there! :-) not sure about the 'hop flag' idea, think that may scare off a lot of non-hoppers from wanting to come and chat/play with you guys but we'll see... how about if i station a giant fluffy orange monkey for a waypoint?...

pk is that a promise? its been too long and it is back in the city you knwo and love... :-) we miss you... ;-(
