In celebration of spherculism turning 3 years old.

Here's some 300 odd videos for your edutainment,

Not fantastically shot i'm afraid, just thought id get off my @$$ and do it.

I'm trying to perfect my system for getting tuts online, this weeks record was 250 clips online within 4 hours, including all the filming. Then it took about another 2-3 hours to sort them, name them etc. But still pretty good.

Then did a separate group of inversions, insides and inswing vids.

Then did some nice tangle vids yesterday.

By far the most interesting album is the Modifiers.

Just to point out, this is very early stage of big big project, these are all just tests really, but they are still pretty cool.

The main aim of all this is to get something down for everything i want to talk about, then go into more detail later on.

poi tuition 2007

enjoy,

m

Well, there's plenty more where that came from smile

Just getting to grips with terminology for the insides, inversions and inswings

Hammered it out with Rev for a couple hours the other day.

I actually made those vids to show rev and said "tell me what all these moves are please"

We discussed it for hours and came to the conclusion that by introducing the term Inswing clarifies the difference.

anyhoo, there will be much discussion round my place over the coming weeks wink

Hey drew, actually it was surprisingly little work, i've got my system all sorted.

And compared to making the dvd, or setting up the site......

The main thing for me tho, is that this is what the whole site is meant to be about, and finally i have the time to do it.

I'm just gonna keep plugging away at those sections i've defined, keep on adding vids and gradually build the site content up again.

Also working on other stuff to go with it, like a hole backend thing for teachers, but that's not gonna be out for a while.

But main main goal right now is to just keep on adding a trickle of vids.

Awesome tuts/demos Matt. The new site is going to be ace.

I'm glad to see the terminology you use for insides and inswings is the same as mine. I've been playing with adding inswings and insides to weaves as of late and it's great to see them on film. Looks like another Sphercular Revolution is at hand. biggrin

yeah man, the site is finally pumping again.

The term inswing has really unlocked everything for me and i feel like all this stuff can finally be talked about without the usual misunderstandings.

Or maybe not, but at least me and you will be able to talk about it, yay.

Then the last piece is to coin the phrase IN's to refer to inversions, insides and inswings.

Which make this genre of moves IN's & OUT's

All the IN's & OUT's work with butterflies too, plus it's how all the tangle stuff works.

So the big question today is, shall i do some work, or film all the butterfly tangles and inversions?

hey kyle good to see you around.

Ok, well, i just went and filmed some:

butterfly IN's & OUT's

and butterfly tangles

Not sure i got everything down but it's probably another 40 or so clips, front and side views of most things like before.

Time to get it all online smile

Cool, lots of butterfly tangles, inversions, insides and inswings added to the gallery.

Ended up as about 70 more clips i think, some pretty good stuff in there too.

I also found a nice spot in my house, good lighting and not too distracting background.

Enjoy,

All the videos are simple mov files, nothing fancy.

Been trying to figure out what's best for a while, and altho i don't really like mov files, it weems micro$oft have written a dodgy plugin for firefox so it can't play embedded avi files using windoze movie player.

So this currently is the best i can do.

Plus all the mac users who complain about not being able to see the vids i do should be sorted now.

Awesome tutorials. Very well done and easy to pick up on. Ecspecially the insides/inswings/inversions, which helped me out immensely as i've been playing with inversions for awhile now but had yet to grasp the concept of insides/inswings. Your tuts really put it into perspective and i'm already bustin' out the insides.

On a side note, and this may come off kinda n00bish, but everytime I view a tutorial of yours it asks to activate activeX control. Is there a way to get rid of, or set my browser to automatically accept that? or is that something ill just have to live with? by the way i'm using windows and Internet Explorer eww.

Well, ditch internet explorer, it doesn't work.

Get firefox and see if that solves your problem, does it happen mainly with the mov files? If so you may want to get a newer version of quicktime, but make sure you don't install all the cr@p that comes with it. And make sure you're anti spyware and adware programs are running, and zone alarm too. Quicktime's not the worst for that kinda thing, but they are pretty bad.

oh matt, I love you!!!!! you are sooo amazing. I just understood something I was struggling with for a year, in your one vid clip it just suddenly made sense. One inversion, and one crossover, a three beat weave...Soon i think I may even understand your terminology. Then maybe Rev can get back to teaching me about the eleventh dimension wink

thanks bender and clare, i miss playing with you two.

and bansheecat, the thing that really nailed the In's & Out's stuff for me was the distinction between inside and inswing. I spent all day naming those videos to be as correct as possible, figuring out at which point the In's happen (between beats not on the beat) and arguing terminology with rev. It was a big mission, but my poi is all the better for it and i hope everyone elses can be too.

Off to the kiwi juggling festival today, so hopefully lots more videos when i gt back smile

Plus i've still got about 100 gig of videos to go thru and compress and upload.
