The article seems to be arguing the exact opposite of crime getting bad. It's arguing that law abiding citizens are being treated as criminals.

Well, shall we go?
Yes, let's go.

Empty your mind. Be formless, Shapeless, like Water.

that seems to be the common trend with the police these days. less protecting the public and more protecting the rich.

That's the only thing is seems to be saying. Where is it talking about 'how bad crime has gotten under the current government?'

Well, shall we go?
Yes, let's go.

It also points out that if there is more crime these days, it may have something to do with Tony B. Liar & Co having introduced over 3,000 new criminal offences to the statute books since coming to power - that's a rate of roughly one every day.

It may stop, but it never ends.

what with the creations of mulitple "on the spot fines", ASBO's and other silly offences like eating or drinking while in charge of a vehicle being policed more and you not only get fined but have points added to your licence

Indeed. The article is not talking about "how bad crime has gotten" at all. It's talking about how things that didn't used to be crimes are now crimes, and how the government is infringing on civil rights.

Which, again, is the opposite of "how bad crime has gotten."

Well, shall we go?
Yes, let's go.

We live in a country where young boys - one was just seven - are taken aside and questioned for trying to knock conkers out of chestnut trees on public ground. Where a grandmother whose neighbour accused her of not returning a ball kicked into her garden was arrested, fingerprinted and required to give her DNA. The police went through every room in her house, even her daughter's drawers, before letting her go without charge or caution.

Where two sisters can be arrested after a peaceful protest about climate change, held in solitary confinement for 36 hours without being allowed to make a phone call, then told not to talk to each other as a condition of their bail. As this paper reported, their money, keys, computers, discs and phones were confiscated, their homes searched.

In a world with decreasing natural resources, those with the means to secure those resources for themselves and their families will do so. Hence their increasing desire to control those of us who do not have that ability, so that the threat we pose to them is reduced as much as possible.

Nearly everyone when asked will say that they wouldn't kill another person, except to protect their own family.

What difference does it make if the people who are a threat are in your face with a gun or knife now, or in your future, starving and disease ridden in their millions, because there is no oil to use as a raw material in the production of fertilizer and pharmaceuticals, or to use as fuel to distribute these things?

You aren't thinking or really existing unless you're willing to risk even your own sanity in the judgment of your existence.

I don't think that last offence is a silly one at all. If someone is in charge of a vehicle, that's what they should be concentrating on and not on being in charge of food and drink.

If someone is hungry or thirsty they should take a break to eat or drink. Similarly, if someone is tired, they should take a break to rest and not fall asleep at the wheel smile
