BBC news site has gone slow again, the direct link for 5 live radio is: https://www.bbc.co.uk/fivelive/live/live.asx

waterloo tube station is now closed too.

There's no confirmed reports yet, only that there's reports being red on five live that there were 3 dummy explosions and no one is hurt.

They should be halfway there by now...

They'll be alright.

Thw whole of the Underground is now closed though, apparently...

yes and no. There's a lot of money to be lost by closing the whole tube, both to companies in london and tfl themselves. If they don't think it's worth doing on a safety basis then all you can do is trust them

not the whole of the underground yet:

"The whole of the Northern Line has been suspended, along with the Victoria Line and the Hammersmith and City."
source: bbc news

the latest seems to be that only detonators were used - no high explosives.

All seems a lot smaller than 2 weeks ago, but some weird stories of people threatening to blow themselves up and running away! Seems like it's scare tactics.

My office is on Warren Street - it's very quiet here with lots of people standing round on the street waiting for something to happen or walking places.

No sign of smoke that I can see. I was outside about an hour ago and by then every bus had been stopped and emptied - with a number 30 having a special cordon of it's own. All the streets around are cordoned off - the entrance to my office means we're half in/out of the cordon.

Long journey home for most I think.

Just heard from PyroWill...

All people travelling with him on the 12:05 from Paddington are about halfway to Falmouth and all OK. No delays, nothing affected them...

I'm listening to a report that says the were detonators on dummy bombs. One blew a backpack open. . .and apparently, there's an eye-witness account of someone grabbing the backpack after the explosion, and running off.

The explosions don't seem nearly as big as those on July 7th.

sounds like either a failed attempt, or a financial attack (ie cause a lot of panic and make london business loose as much money as possible).

my friend works for the police in london, just spoke to him and they're planning to get transport back to normal within the next 3 hours, there is no sign of any nail bomb, they believe it was just designed to scare people. At the moment only one person has been reported as injured in any way,and that person is the one that was wearing the backpack that they think contained detonators,he has been arrested for questioning.
2 more buses have been cordoned off,but nothing has been found on them. They're calling an amber alert for certain areas,so it seems that its not as serious as before. Will keep you all posted if i find out anymore and will hopefully see you all safe, sound and hopefully not too late at falmouth tonight.
love to all. meditate grouphug

Worse is that its looks like the evices were actually meant to be as devastating as the ones used in the previous attacks. There is speculation that the home made explosive may have been from the same batch as the first and that it had begun to break down to the point that it no longer worked when detonation was attempted, thus the resulting 4 explosions being just detonators.

It willl make a difference Mike, but only in that it will needlessly kill people.

Unfortunately Mike it has made a difference and this will make more of a difference. Paranoia will grow, the Muslim community will be more isolated and attacked by some people and the devide will grow. Terrorism does actually work and bring about change - just not always in a clear cut manner.

I'm trying to bear in mind that this is nothing compared to the daily suffering of other peoples across the world who face bombings, violence, starvation and suffering on a daily basis.

My journey to work is all messed up, but I'm alive, fed and have a comfy bed to lie in. And tomorrow I'll be back in central London living my life....

I wonder if that's what they're on about. Trying to get Muslims thrown out of Western society, angry and hurt, ready to join the cause...
