I've heard that before...it's like tomatos and cucumbers, they're fruit (tomato a true fruit) and ironically oranges are "false fruits"
tis true. learnt it on my biology course.

A couple of balls short of a full cascade... or maybe a few cards short of a deck... we'll see how this all fans out.

You're not wrong Mynci, I take my food very seriously ubblol There are two main things that are capable of narking me right off: Lack of food and lack of sleep (as in only getting an hour or so!)

Otherwise I'm pretty tame wink

You should go to indonesia...banana tree's grow like weeds all over the place. they are treated like we treat stinging nettles, dug up and left to die or battered about, but the flowers on them are quite spectacular......
p.s. wouldn't risk eating off a live tree, open 1 nana to find a cockroach the size of a spaniel eek

You can actually dry out the skin and smoke that - never done it myself as it's got to be done on a radiator over a few days and I always forgot, and ended up finding bits of mouldy banana all over the place!

Same as nutmeg, if you eat enough of that, it actually poisons you to the point of hallucinations (like being stoned). 'tis true wink

When I were a lad, it was said at school that you could get a hit by smoking the stringy bits on inside of a banana skin.

It didn't work for me but I did get quite a headache from it

So much for "cool ideas" at school, eh? rolleyes

Yeah.. so I've heard.

Lettuce is also a hullucinogenic if you eat enough of the stuff, unfortunately it would involve eating 70 odd lettuce plants so it's probably not worth the effort.

Bananas are a berry...

That makes them a fruit. They're seed-containing reproductive structures of a plant. Ergo, fruit.

i heard bananas are a herb too...

i thought the definition of fruit was seeds on the inside and skin on the outside... do bananas have seeds inside them? are the little back bits actually seeds or are they just little back bits?

...pumpkin's a fruit.

A fruit is a reproductive structure of a plant that is shed and contains seeds.

Bananas have teensy little black specks in them...seeds.

yeah, but alot of the time new banana plants are made by shoots coming out of the root bass of the plant.
though, they do have seeds.... its all confusing.

A few years ago when I was still in South Africa, we smoked banana leaves. Ofcoarse we didn't dry them ourselves, we bought them in packs already rolled up and ready to smoke. They were dark brown, tasted funny and left a sticky residue on your fingers and lips, but they did make you a bit high. I used to get headaches from them so I gave them to my mom. She loved them!
