I was hoping something like strugz avatar which looks like this :

Right now i only have WMM (windows movie maker). Do u know if its possible to make them with WMM? Or do i HAVE to get prem [iv been waiting afew weeks for my friend to send me prem but still no luck frown ]

Or are there other free downloadable software products i can use to make it?

I also have hosting space so that should be fine...

what you have to do is get a series of frame captures from the movie (say using quicktime pro or some such thing) and then use those to construct an animated gif after resizing them to avatar size. to make the animated gif you have to assign which image you want for which frame - and all the images must be the same size gif images. The easiest way to do this is with a gif animation program - many of which you can find as free ware (do a google search on gif animation how to or some such thing to find some). just be sure to read the free ware licience to make sure you aren't allowing it to install spyware on your machine. I know there is a nice easy free one redily available out there w/o spyware, but I can't remember the name right now - will post agian if I do think of it.

You can do it with Fireworks and Flach from Macromedia or many other programs.

If you want to do it for free though, try The GIMP. https://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/
It's the Photoshop of the OOS world and it can do loads of stuff photoshop can.

Heres a tutorial from a Google search for "gimp animated gif":

https://linuxguide.automatedshops.com/GimpGuide/anim_gif.html

You'll need to export a load of still frames from WMM and put them in to The GIMP and save it as a ani-gif.

Good luck. If all else fails, send the movie over and I'll do it in flash.

Hey Dragon

I used Adobe Image ready to do mine - you load in the avi sequence and it renders the gif for you..... it took me ages to get the quality settings down low enough to make an avatar. You should be able to find it on limewire or kazza.

If you get real REAL stuck then shout and ill post you one wink

Please help me now! why don't an avators display on my computer in the forums-no little cross logo or anything!, yet they display in the picture galleries, I don't understand!
