Is it just me but I am so happy to spin? I used to see people in the park spinning fire and thought how cool they were, never knowing that one day that would be me! Gotta love this site. rolleyes

Never hold your farts in! They travel up your spine, go into your brain and that's where shitty idea's come from.

Sadly I haven't spun for about 2 months. I've been starting to lose enthusiasm for it. Maybe I'm out of tricks and need a new toy? But that involves money that I don't have at the moment.

I used to feel really powerful and that I was actually something when I spun. I felt proud and content too.

Abandoned, it happens to all of us sometimes mate. You just need to keep at it and it will be fun again smile

Laya, when I spin I feel contented as well.
Depending on what I'm spinning to, or if I'm practicing moves, I may also feel relaxed, or pissed off if I can't nail one perticular move.

Ah, but when you are working on that new move and you can just see it around the corner, building up to it and seeing the new possibilities, its better than meditation

Spinning amplifies what I'm currently feeling. If I'm happy, I'll spin fast and wrap to the beat (glowsticks =P). If I'm feeling sad, my arms will tend to to expand and I'll flow to the feeling of my own tears/inner demons. If I'm mad, it's fscking BURNINATION time with the fire poi.

Yeah, I'm mental. Poi is my release.

To do: More Firedrums 08 video?

Wildfire/US East coast fire footage

LA/EDC glow/fire footage

Fresno fire

I would be so happy when I twirled. Nowadays I have lost the urge to do it, I guess it's partly because I have no one to spin with.

That can lower the enthusiasm more then you think.

i find that i sorta become separate from the world, in that i can spin anything i can do without really thinking, and it gives me time to think, but then i try to do something i'm not too fluent with, and when i get hit with my poi, it brings me back to my surroundings.

i just space out - even when im trying to do a move i cant do yet i just sorta loose focus and keep trying - either that or i clobber the back of my head but i tend to stay pretty spaced. unless im spinning with pigeon when i just laugh a lot :P

cainebaby - if you just try to forget they're there - maybe focus on your hands or something in the distance smile tends to work

try spinning in a semi public place (like your front garden) where people arn't going to be watching you specifically. smile

I feel powerful and when it's to music I feel funky and cool. It's unusual for someone my age (52) to be spinning anyway so I feel like I'm in touch with good life things. I feel mentally alive when I'm spinning on my own and trying to figure out some new stuff. When I'm at a party or something I spin sometimes cos I know people like to watch and then I can feel a bit cut off from people. (Suits me when I am in a shy phase redface ). When I'm spinning with other people I can feel a bit sad that I'm such a slow learner!!!!! frown

Spinning to music totally..ahem ... gets me off. I love it. throw on some funky music. It just makes my blood flow with a little more spunk.
Without the music I tend to get into a but of a more meditative state, especially when I'm learning a new move... I just go into that... poi zone.. there's gotta be a word for it.. if there's not we should invent one.

When I spin I feel absolutly amazing... I am me. I just move to the way I feel and I love the fact that there is alwase something else, something more that you can do. Even if you dont know it yet. wink

Spinning helps to clear my head, to be able to stop thinking even for a short time is such a blessing for me... So good. biggrin
If I have anything that I need to sort out, something playing on my mind, I just spin untill I forget about it and then sleep on it and the answers usually come in the morning. smile

I'll lap at your heels, if you give me the chance. Though I won't fetch or stay, I surely will dance...

oh wait... you meant poi! in that case I usually feel relaxed, I often spin alone when there's no pressure at all to perform smile
when in a crowd I feel exited and happy.
when in front of an audience I feel very psyched and on top of the world (and stupid afterwards because I always forget to do about 75% of my best moves when lighting up smile

meditate eRic.

I feel all kinds of things when spinning. It varies depending on location, present state of mind, external stimuli (music etc). But it's always good. When I first started out I managed to learn five tricks in a day, and the step from each one felt like I'd crossed a massive bridge. Then when I figured out how to put the tricks together, I started feeling almost meditative and content.

Now I get frustrated when I can't grasp new tricks but that turns to determination and I start lusting over that 'holy grail' and until I get it, I won't stop.

I also love to watch people spin because everyone has their own unique style and it's interesting to spectate.

Either that, or I just like to look goooooood (I will one day ubblol )

Pull my pin out, roll me in to a room and see what happens ubbloco

that's a tough question!

I guess it's a combination of a couple of things that have been mentioned!

Regardless of how i'm feeling, i always loose myself in the dance, it becomes difficult to get my attention. When i first start to dance, my current emotion is generally amplified and people have commented that they can 'see' how i'm feeling in the way i'm moving. After a while i chillout to a mellow mood and generally close my eyes (depending on the dance area/environment), thats where my movements become long, fluid and exagerated.

Then, it's difficult to explain, i almost cycle through different emotions... particularly if there's music to dance to! I focus on a particular part in the music and the dance reflects the emotional energy produced by that part... In one song or pice of music, i foten pick up 3 or 4 different emotions and dance to them...

How do i actually react to this or actually feel while i'm dancing? I couldn't really tell you, i become somewhat detached!

Regards hug
