one of the very few Jim Carrey movies i liked. though, i still liked it in spite of him rather than because of him. he didn't get in the way to much. but, wow, i loved that movie anyway. i was like woah.

i haven't seen that one, but from the trailers, it looked that the only good reason to see it is that natalie portman is really hot. but, trailers can be unreliable, it made Garden State (which i loved) look like a chick flick

i loved it too smile

but it wasn't great because of michael gondry.

it was great because of charlie kaufmann ubblove

gondry does seem to get him a little better than spike jonze though - he takes a slightly more tongue in cheek slant on things.

if you're looking for more, 'human nature' takes a base look at human urges and attraction.
and its pretty funny too smile

I've heard so much about this movie! I've been meaning to see it, my brother has the dvd somewhere at his house which he brought for about .50c in Vietnam as well as about 30 other dvds from here.

Yeah I've heard nothing but good about this movie.

Hear, hear! Truly talented bloke. Being John Malcovitch, Adaptation both blew me away. Still have not got round to seeing confessions of a dangerous mind which I've also heard good things about

what about human nature...?

i have all these on dvd, though some are region one and smallboy's brother still has my copy of being john malkovich rolleyes

confessions is the sh!ts but he really didn't change too much from the book as far as i've heard.

Human nature = umm

I disagree that Kaufman is what made it great, much as I love the script and his other films, but Gondry is an incredible director (at least after HN!) who gave the film a fantastic atmosphere.

Plus Winslet and Carey are both brilliant, brilliant actors.

What a wonderful miracle if only we could look through each other's eyes for an instant.

what didn't you like about human nature?

i don't get why you think gondry is what made eternal sunshine great seeing as you didn't like human nature and that's pretty much the only other feature gondry has done.

he just made adverts and more money for mtv before that wink

imho kaufman hasn't written a bad feature film yet (even if being john malkovich was rehashed at the end) and if you're a director, you're lucky to get to work with him (look at clooney).

although having said that, once you get the nod, you had better do a good job of getting it all onto a screen (which i think, gondry has done better than any of the other so far).

i've been keeping this quiet so i can get in quick on the tickets wink but some of you guys that live in the uk might well be interested in this: kaufman/coen stage callabo biggrin

Ok. This is gonna make me unpopular.

I didn't like it.

The cinematography was pretty cool, I'll give it that. But I felt that it didn't really have much to say to me. "It's better to live with your mistakes than without them?" Duh. A bit heavy-handed, I thought. I thought the movie was fantastic in the special effects, but otherwise bombastic and boring.
