Hello HoPers,

it's time I draw your attention to the centre of Australia where there is not only a big rock and lots of dust but also at least one very passionate twirler and spinner: ME. weavesmiley

I've moved here in 2001 and started poi only about 15 months (flippin' isolations) and staff only about 6 months ago (those fishtails are HARD) and have been looking for people to spin with eversince, but alas noone was found...

So I thought I introduce myself to the wide and open family at HoP and also invite you all to come and meet me and have a good time in Alice Springs (but dont expect me to go to any of the bars here, they are just shite)

Forget Byron Bay, come, come to meeee, little twirlers, come... eek

Have a good one

That's it FireBug, I met only a few travellers that spin, but more than 3 beat weave wasn't there.

Yes poiet, I am close to NZ and I met this Kiwi who said that poi was only for girls and staff was the right thing for guys. so he twirled the staff... and burned himself badly! That left a good impression... Better stick to those sheep wink

Ah, exellent, there are some travel-bugs around... I'll probably be in Germany start of next July but any other time pop in and say hi.

batwalker, didn't mean to be rude. I can still apreciate a nice 3 beat weave (heck, I do it a lot, feels just great) and anyway I get so exited if I meet people that spin or are interested in learning. We can always learn from each other...

Pink...? Yeah, great colour, especially in a nice mix with purple. What about pink poi? Or is there a chemical that makes flames pink, would look great.

You weren't being rude. It is great to meet people that can spin, I keep getting people addicted and then to try to teach them (badly), within a day they know more then me confused, oh well at least I get to spin weavesmiley

Welcome to HoP Sprocket. Don't worry, you're not the only one that spins in isolation. You'll find a great group of people here, even if THEY are a little ubbloco wink

Hey FireBug, you've gaaadaa get out o' that place...I think I've been through Karratha. How many people live there?

Batwalker, I teach as well, basically anyone who wants to. Some people learn so quickly others take a while which makes me wonder how fast I could have learnt with a good teacher. But then it doesn't matter as long as it's fun.

Gidg, 35 sleeps till Oz...? Come, come to meeeee (sorry don't have a pogo stick but can show signs of occasional madness)

To all you others, cheers for the welcome. Keep the fire burning.

Firebug, where are you at? Which moves are you currently learning?

I enjoyed learning by myself and got a lot of ideas from the threads at HoP. And if you can't find any new moves just add a throw to everything: throw weaves, throw butterflys, throw it all but not into the people watching.

There are about eight twirlers here that I know of, but when I suggest a meeting there is just no response whilst I jump at anyone to have a spin-session. I guess I'm just more into it than anyone else around here... Thank goodness for HoP.

Righton! HoP is my salvation from this destitute place, i dont understand what your first question means im at the library at this point in time if you mean it litterally, as for your second question i have learnt a multitude of moves already and am always trying to find new ones by just seeing wat i can do that abides th laws of physics at the moment im concentrating on contact moves coz they can flow into pretty much anything but i do alot of throwing anyway, last year we had a weekly meet for about an hour and on occasins sundays would be spent practicing at the local theatre for about 6 hours, im not sure as yet whether the meets are going to continue but i hope so, i get bored of doing it by myself.

I'd rather be hot in a cold bath than soaked and freezing huddled to a raidiator. But that's just me. And the '4 hours' thing is moderately true actually. Never considered that before. (Looks bemused)

Still, sympathy for you. (Huggles)

How long have you been out there?

Cant believe you didn't get a job in the Alice. EVERYONE can get a job here... It's a bit more difficult at the rock. When were you there?

Hey thanks for the sympathy, I guess we always want what we don't have. I bet I would want summer back if I was freezing. Just that 41'C are a bit hot.... It's my fourth summer now and it doesn't feel any better than the last.

Hello.

I've seen you before. You live in outer space with all the silly creatures.

Although I think you came down into Fraggle Rock on at least one occasion chasing your ball and got stuck amongst the pipes.

Young Boober Fraggle had to get you out by coating your fur with radish grease....
