Posted:I have the opportunity to interview to be an usher for Cirque du Soleil for the shows they're doing inAukland.

Thing is I don't need the money right now and the only reason I'd do it is cause it's Cirque and it'd be well cool to be a part of something like that (regardless of some peoples opinions of them).

Also I've just bought a van and was going to be heading round new zealand. I'm a little worried about getting bored of the show, seeing as I'd have seen it loads of times by the end of it.

What do you reckon? Anyone have any experience watching the same thing over and over again? Would working as an usher be the same as the same job in a cinema.

i don't think you could get bored of their shows. you can't possibly take everything in with one viewing. i think the show would get better every time you see it. like a fine wine.

Posted:Go for it James! Nice one. I agree with Aidan, if you DO get fed up you can just pack it in. You may not need the money right now but surely it would be a great experience, meeting all the artists & performers. You might even get to do a bit of performing.

I don't get what the problem witih Cirque is. They're a show. They're good. Was there a problem with Cirque?

It's way cooler to put down Cirque. Say things like "I can't work with them cuz they're facist" or "They don't pay enough" or "They discriminate against people without a certain body type." Being a critic makes you seem more knowledgeable.

Here, I'll make a list:

Things that it's fashionable to hate if you're trying to chat up a hippy chick at a concert:
Cirque du Soleil, Starbucks, Microsoft, Mc Donalds, All Major Softdrink Companies, Oil, Gasoline, Plastic, Drug Companies, Veal, the Media, Any film costing more than $500K to make, Cigarette companies (even if you support them daily), Republicans, Pro Sports, Any Clothing Company with a logo, your dad, cops, the Army, any white person that makes more than $1M a year, guns, any band that has been signed by any major record label (though you can like their work from BEFORE that point), America, your boss, organized religion, mimes, anything that inconveniences you in the name of safety, and any drunk person that you don't know.

There are more but I'll stop at that.

CIRQUE SUCKS! I could do better with a pair of durastilts and a pack of gum.

[Btw, did any of y'all see those 10 year old chinese kids with the meteors eek ]

Most of this was caused by it's timing and how it clashed with every plan we'd made since we arrived here. Anyway we're over it now and she bought me a ticket to go see 'em tomorrow night so that's groovy anyway clap
