if you could do four poi airwraps / hype-loops, why would you do anything else?

I think this is the "blackhole" of all double meteor moves...

and since people can juggle while doing normal butterfly, and people can juggle weighted poi like clubs, I don't see why 11 poi isn't possible... (not counting one attached to head... )

oh and almost forgot the poi wibbling between your arms and leg... smile

im response to mcp. the theoretical limit of poi is like 16 i think. 2 in ur mouth, two in each foot, and 4 in each hand. llok up all the posts by 2bags and he saysn his views on limits of poi on a multiple poi at once thread. check it out.

inuits (eskimos) supposedly had bolas (meteors but with more ends) with twelve ends, that they swung and threw to catch prey.

But that wouldn't be poi really, unless you had two... biggrin

Yeah, until now this thread hasn't picked up on the most over-looked part of the twirling world - the neglected world of nipple tassles!

Right, that's another pair sorted...

What a wonderful miracle if only we could look through each other's eyes for an instant.

Hey, I have some questions(and I could not find any satisfying answers by searching).

1: Does anyone feel like telling me how to do a "one-handed" butterfly with your foot? How do you hold it (with your toes?), what kind of poi are practical for the task, how do you practice it or start it?

2: What kind of poi do you recommend for the mouth butterfly (what handles?) and do you have any tips on how to get it solid?

I can already do 4 with my hands (2 butterflies); turning and legwrapping, polirythms(really lame ones) and overhead etc. my basic 4 poi pattern is solid (I can and have performed it onstage cool ). So I though maybe I should try this trick out. I like combo tricks.

Thanks for your answers ubbrollsmile

And If you care to share you knowledge of the 3 in one hand butterfly I would also appriciate it!

Interesting projects....

Nothing is impoissible.... and we must aim according to the Olympic spirit wink

1) pedaflies: Same as one handed butterflies - practice

2) oraflies: Well you may use handles or tiny rubberballs - choose to your liking. You could also install something like this:

Non-Https Image Link

So as in singled out and attach the Poi to it.

and 3) "the three winged butterfly" (or 'fluttterby') will require you to either be permeable or you simply need to develop extreme control over all the planes - I would say that a "four winged butterfly" is easier than a "three winged" one...

Keep us posted on your progress....

i remember this thread. i inadvertedly started a bit of a ruck in it. whoops. ubbrollsmile

anyways, numbers poi ... eh? my how this has grown in poipularity in the last few years? rarely is it that i go to a meet and don't see someone not working on it.

firetom: i'm not entirely sure which bits of your last post were serious and which bits were taking the mickey out of this noble art.

rosvall: i have some experience in this area so i'll try and give you some advice:

1) the one-foot butterfly: i've had limited success just holding the poi in my toes, and starting by flopping one poi over my foot, then flicking it off, so you can get then at 180 on the horizontal then you do a normal one handed butterfly type twist to get them going without hitting each other. but it feels a bit awkward and made my foot ache. i think a far superior method would be to put a couple of holes in a shoe (on either side of the toe part, just above the sole or even just use sandals) and attach poi like that, creating a poi shoe (shooi? pooe?). this would make life easier. then it's just lots of practice.

2) the mouth butterfly: recently i've been doing this while playing the harmonica. you can drill a hole at each end of the harmonica and attach short poi. if you have one slightly longer than the other then they collide less, and the harmonica makes it easier to hold them. this movement is not overly hard but is quite amusing to watch, and i think playing the harmonica at the same time adds a certain level of sophistication.

another feature one can add to the mouth butterfly is the nose. it's possible to introduce a modelling balloon into your nostril, and persuade it to travel back through the nasal cavity and down into your mouth where you can grab it and pull it through so you can hold on to both ends. then take two more modelling balloons and attach a crushed can to one end of each one. these poi can then be attached to the ends of the balloon that's in your nose/mouth (nouth? mose?). the action again is unsurprisingly the same as that of a one handed butterfly. this one is slightly unpleasant because the latex balloon rubs a bit on the inside of your face, which feels well odd.

(yeah, try and tell me this one's pointless mand smile )

if you've not tried six lying down though, you're missing out on a world of fun. you can spin a weave with your feet while doing a butterfly in each hand.

and as for the three in one hand butterfly, i reckon this would be easiest if you attached the pois to the end of your fingertips to give you extra control over them.

i hope this was of some help.
