to the best of my knowledge white gas is hotter. but check the MSDS.

white gas burns hotter, faster, and brighter than lamp oil.
my only question is why you need to know =]

Use lamp oil, less chance of YOU catching fire, but it lasts longer. I'd say use alcohol. 95% isopropal or denatured alcohol. That would be the "coolest" flame. It's what's used for traces.

What I find most disturbing about this thread is that a seasoned performer (yes, you native) who was a member of a professional fire troupe doesn't know the basics about fuels.... most disconcerting!

the faster a fuel evaperates the higher temp of the burn do to the vaper level transfer.. is that better flash
