its like on the film "The Craft" when she lays on the floor biggrin i've never actually tried that sort of thing but i can make my arm levitate! sounds stupid and like im just goin whooop *lifts up arm* but you have to be completely relaxed and keep telling yourself that your arm is really light and is lifting into the air and all that stuff and it actually made me arm like, lift itself up without me actually doing anything with my arm. takes a while to lift it some height tho. is cool. the people i have told tho just think im weird! its nothing too impressive but oh well. ubbrollsmile happy levitating!

My personal opinion is that this sort of levitation is all shite and my physics teacher explained why..

You cant lift them in a chair on your own....right?

However 5 people can, as you have 5 times the ammount of energy being put into lifting them.

Its the same principle when it comes to lifting cars...you can easily do it with no hassle if you have enough people.

Was it not Archemedies who said:

UCOF - It's 4 people, not 5.

Archimedes actually said "Give me a big enough lever, and I’ll move the world."
Or as my mate Dave once said "If a couple of us give it a shove it'll come out easy enough."

Dom.. what is 4 people? confused

I didnt say it took 5 people to lift a car.. then again.. it does depend on what car you are attempting to lift..

the sort that one person can pick up, shake any loose items out of, and put in one's back pocket?

ItsAllTears - thats actually a form of self induced hypnosis. if you can get someone to sit down, relaxed, and if you say the same things out loud, you can probably get their arm to lift as well. hours of entertainment smile

I didnt check out the site yet... but is it the one where someone lies down and like 4 people can lift them up using only their fingers???
I've done it, in Drama, and it worked. The person lying down has to tense up as much as possible and u can lift them into the air using only their fingers.
Dont ask me why, but for some reason when u tense up your body gets lighter or something like that *shrugs*

It's standard suggestion. You start off my mentioning that there would be no normal way that you could pick up anyone (no matter how many there of you) with just you fingers. You get them to try and lo and behold, they fail. You then get them to do some hocusy pocusy stuff (like holding their hands above the guy-in-the-chair's head and saying things about channeling and focusing energy) then throw in some possitive things like "You WILL succeed, he will be light as a feather". Get them to try again and amazingly, it works. Get four people who know the trick in the first place and he'll go up first time.

Give me a lever long enough and a place to stand and I can beat the world into submission.

btw, this party trick can be done by inexperienced children, with no training or hocus-pokus ... its simple physics and biology... the index finger of a human hand can sustain as much weight as the entire hand... asd is evidenced by hudreds of concert goers every year, a few people's hands can lift an entire person quite easily

it must work psychologically and physically - if you are correctly positioned then the person is balanced and their weight is supported rather than "lifted". If you know how to carry large awkward heavy objects they always feel lighter. While in terms of the levitation I imagine it's a similar situation, in the first attempt the lifters actually believe that the weight should be heavy and unliftable, so can't lift it. Like domino said though, it'd probably work first time if this idea wasn't reinforced...

if it makes no sense that's because it's NOn-sense.
