Hello, wavehello

I'm Helen, 25 years old from Dublin, Ireland. I currently work in a library restoring historic maps, but as of this Friday, i will be jacking that in to go travelling, starting with Burning Man sunny

I've been spinning poi for a couple of years now, and playing with a fire wheel (thanks Squarefish!). I lurked for ages on HOP because i was shy ubbangel but recently i've had the pleasure of meeting a lot of the other Irish spinners who post here, and i've realised what i was missing out on by not getting to know more of you lovely people grouphug

I'll be camped with the Paddy Mirage at Burning Man, so please come over for a pint if you're around! beerchug

Hope to meet more of you (and pick up a few tricks wink )

Thanks for reading this,

Helen

BTW, sláinte means "good health" or "cheers" in Gaelic in case anyone was confused

Thanks for the well-wishing for Burning Man, it was excellent, wouldn't change a thing. Psycho lemming, it was great to meet you. Check out the website for the New Zealand juggling convention in March, may see you there if not before. I do miss Ireland though. All the juggling clubs have started up again....ah well, i'm on the other side of the world, it's all good.

Hi Poiple wave

i thought i'd bounce my thread, to explain the fact that i have changed my HOP name. Never really like Rosmerta anyway, and Helen of poi has been my cheesy performance (in so far as i do ever perform) name for a while now, so it just made sense. To me anyway.

I'm also no longer working in a library - thank god! bounceI'm currently in Picton, New Zealand, managing the jugglers' rest backpackers, so i have to some degree managed to run away and join the circus. juggle Although i'm still a crap juggler redface

Hellos to all the lovely spinners i've met in NZ - in particular Stripy cat, and Psycho lemming. And hellos to all the lovely spinners from home that i miss - Clare, Lisa, Ado-p, Sarah, Martin, Barry, Laudie..... hug Glad to see you're actually using my fireland mailing list for fundraisers and stuff biggrin
And finally, hellos to all the lovely spinners i haven't met yet wavehello

Take care,

Helen weavesmiley

Hey Ry' nice to meet you. Do make yourself at home, and feel free to propose marriage to anyone you like, as it seems to have become the theme of the thread. ubbrollsmile Where in Australia are you from? It so happens that yesterday i booked a flight to Brisbane in May, and i've no idea whereabouts i'm going after that, so all suggestions welcome!

i wasn't planning on having a dress code for the wedding, but by all means Lisa, if you want a hat, indulge yourself *looks for graemlin of smiley wearing hat and finds that there isn't one*

We still haven't ironed out all the details for the service. And i've just realised that i don't even know my future husband's name
eek wink

Wonder if HOP will handle wedding lists and we can just get lots of fire toys instead of toasters?

ubblol

Hi Helen- pleasure's all mine ubbangel Feeling more at home with each random nutter I come across biggrin
re: proposing marriage to anyone I like.. don't tease cos I'm a dreamer- I'd probably do it, and optimistically! ubblove

To answer your question, I actually grew up in Singapore. Have been in Brissie for the past 3 years and it's home to me now. Have a pic:

Damn right it's a one way ticket! smile i don't tend to plan stuff much. i only decided the other day that i would go to Australia then, rather than in six months time. i have a year's working holiday visa, but i'm not sure how long i'll be there for. Until i stop having fun, or run out of money - whichever comes first!
