Posted: I don't know how many of you are into electronic music, but I was wondering if anyone made it out to the Detroit Electronic Music Festival. I was quite impressed this year, though I've always had a good time. It marked my first time spinning in front of a substantial audience (glow sticks) and I think it went well. I saw several other spinners there and thought there was a chance a couple might post to this board.
I also noticed that a lot of the people there who were spinning preferred short strings to long. Has anyone else noticed any sort of correlation between using short strings and glowsticks versus long strings and fire? Just a thought.
Posted: I am into electronic music, but is this festival all techno? I really only like industrial and power noise, so if this is going to be one of those events packed with drooling E heads, and a bunch of kids wasted on K, than I don't think I'll be going.
Jesus helps me trick people.

Posted: The music is mostly house, jungle, and other club music, but the event kinda goes beyond all that. Yeah, there are people doing ecstacy and stuff like that, though your depiction of them doesn't quite mesh with my impression of those people (I've never done the drugs myself). It's a 3 day festival held in Hart Plaza. Thousands of people every day, no matter what the weather. I've seen people from all walks of life there. Old hippies, new ravers. One of my favorite memories from this year was watching a guy in a suit who looked to be about 60 dancing with a group of teenagers.
