Is anyone doing split time butterfly hyperloops?
Would it involve tangling at 3 and 9 oclock?

How does that work then? confused

my same time ones are all done with my hands at 3 and 9 with the tangle occurring at either 12 or 6.

just by thinking about where the strings are and when you could possibly tangle them, id say the opposite is true for split time bf airwraps.

so yeah i reckon you're right - start tangling your bf weaves (which is probably the easiest pattern to tangle!) and i reckon it should work itself out pretty quickly smile

i think i can do these...

but im not sure if what i call a butterfly hyperloop is what you call a butterflyhyperloop. when i do them in time my poi tangle at 9 and 3.. split time is 12 and 6.. thats pretty much the only difference between them really. the split time one just has that 'sideways spli time look' to it...

If I go into a same-time butterfly hyperloop then the tangle will occur at either 12 or 6. This seems sort of obvious because in same time butterflies the only time the poi are parallel is at 12 and 6 o'clock. Split-time they'd be able to tangle at 3 and 9 o'clock.

Can't do the split-time ones yet, it's a bugger breaking the planes enough to tangle... should spend some time on it at some point, but currently there's plenty of same-time bf hyperloop stuff still to play with weavesmiley

spiral..i think.... (maybe im wrong)

the poi are parallel at four points around a circle when you do same time butterfly:

once when they both pointing straight up,
once when they are pointing straight down
once when they are both pointing horizontally outwards
once when they are pointing horizontally inwards.

does that make sense? i have a feeling i could be confused. rolleyes

when i do what i call a butterfly hyperloop they are on the both pointing horizontally inwards stage...

you have to add a bit on to realise where you can tangle though.

they are parallel at all these points but you can only tangle if they are travelling in opposite directions and passing each other.

adding [relative direction] of travel to your 4 orientations:

1. pointing straight up [opposite]
2. pointing straight down [opposite]
3. pointing horizontally outwards [same]
4. pointing horizontally inwards [same]

hmmm, does that make sense to anyone other than me...?

yep, that makes sense, i was gonna right that in my post, but didnt... but this confuses me cos my tangles i think work when they are going the same direction, or i might be thinking about how they work wrong.

Cole it makes sense to me. Basically in a same-time butterfly the poi are parallel at four points, but at 3 and 9 o'clock they are pointing away from your hads in opposite directions to each other; at 12 and 6 o'clock they're parallel and pointing in the same direction so you can tangle them here.

To tangle at 3 or 9 o'clock you'd have to do one of these things.

Left poi 3 o'clock, right poi 9 o'clock - separate your arms.

Left poi 9 o'clock, right poi 3 o'clock - cross your arms.

And seeing as they'd be going in the same direction at either point it'd be a lot harder to enter a tangle as well. Not impossible though smile Going into them from isolated TTN would probably make it easier.

Ha, I doubt it spiral they could touch but not really tangle without moving the part of the clock they're on. smile

Interestingly I was thinking about same direction airwraps and how for example right hand at 12 and left at 6 can be swapped for a left hand at 12 and a right hand at 6 giving too different loops.

I was wondering about swapping hands around on a butterfly airwrap. Say on forwards butterfly instead of right hand being on right hand side and left on left (in the buzzsaw area) having the right on the left and the left on the right.

When you turn to your left it seems impossible because crossing your arms in front of you only puts them in the poi's way....unllleesssss.... you put your right hand behind your head while leaning over to the LHS while kinda turning to face the right. A bth butterfly hyperloop I spose....

I was also wondering about the middle part of a butterfly hyperloop. You know the bit that can in theory be done indefinitely. Can that be done behind the head instead of the front of the body.... ubbidea

exactly man smile

the first one of those is the classic tangle that everyone did and hit their nuts with (or girly bits if there are actually girls reading this still wink ) when learning the butterfly.

its the first bf airwrap i learnt too - enters in front, exits bth and is scary as hell cos if it messes up, you're guaranteed to get hit in one of three places: the face, the head or the nuts ubblol

haven't seen anyone do cross arm entrances to bf airwraps yet but that theory is sound so it might work one day if someone can be bothered to try and learn it - i think either richee or andypoibox does some weird cross-handed thing with butterflies and tangles, but i forget which of them it is...

[edit for dss who said "they could touch but not really tangle without moving the part of the clock they're on": all you need do to tangle at these points is to make sure the following poi is going slightly faster than normal just before the crossover so that it overtakes the other poi on that crossover, making a tangle.]

Or you could push the plane of one through the plane of the other... this is how I generally go into bf airwraps.

Hey DeepSoulSheep, you gotta time how many middle beats you do to keep it going ad infinitum. I think it's every second beat (where you time the beat you'll have to work out for yourself! I don't have my poi handy)

Did you get the conversion I was showing you in Dublin, where you change from b-fly hloop to cross'n;folllow (weave).

Take it easy, like.
