haha, got this off another board...it's hilarious:

----------

since there seems to be so much confusion about electronica genres, let me break down the terms for those of you not in the know so we can then have educated, non-ignorant discussions about music, aight? here we go-

progressive - boring
old school - hasn't been improved in years
nu skool - pretending to have done something with old, tired ideas
hard/deep - limp/lame
psy* - for burned out hippies
funky - wishing it was deep
electro - still uses the same old stupid sounding synths that cyndi lauper used
underground - for people who still think its 1999 and electronic music hasn't been co-opted.
house - music for homosexuals (including the many of you still in the closet) and brits.
techno - repetitive nonsensical music
trance - music for pretending to be spiritually moved
IDM - music for staring at the ceiling
breaks - music that tries so hard not to be house and techno, and is even less original since its whole existence is based on dull loops from OTHER people's dull music.
downtempo - music for watching paint dry or for stroking badly groomed facial hair.
jungle/DnB - music for elitist pricks who think faster means better
electroclash - music for people still wishing OMD would reunite and bring josh wink on board.
HHC/garage - music for crystal meth addicts who've burned way too many brain cells.

thus, when you combine progressive house, you get "boring music for homosexuals." nu skool breaks translates to "unoriginal, tired, ideas pretending to be new, based on dull loops from other people's dull music." some deep jungle would mean "lame music for elitist pricks."

I was always scared with my mother's obsession with the good scissors. It made me wonder if there were evil scissors lurking in the house somewhere.
