i'm trying to get into changing this intro from time to time - at the very least to keep the music and films bit 'up to date'.

smile

name: cole[man]

sex: male

age: 27

location: i live in a veritable castle in leytonstone in east london with my beautiful girlfriend ubblove

i used to go to lots of workshops but i have to admit, its a fairly rare occurance these days.

your favourite website/s: this one is okay wink jugglingdb.com, contactjuggling.org, okayplayer.com, spherculism.com, playfestival.co.uk, magicbunny.co.uk, gettyimages.co.uk, toolband.com, airside.co.uk...

toys: i play poi and juggle balls. every now and again (like most people i think) i pick up other toys but am worse at all of these than i am at the keeping balls in the air thing - 97531, drop, drop, drop, drop, drop.

been twirling: since may 2002.

i could do the basic stuff (just a fwd and rev 3bt weave and a fwd butterfly) back in nov 2001 but then went and did a snowboard season in the alps and forgot everything.

when i came back, i discovered one of my best friends had learnt loads!

so summer 2002, i was in the lucky position of being around wikid poi people every weekend and having a friend acting almost as a personal tutor during the week.

big love and respect to jonny moohaahaa and fairie cath for all your patience, effort, guidance and days and days of playtime! hug

i began learning to juggle in august or september of 2002.

recent manipulation trends: been playing with one and two 4" stage balls quite a bit whilst wiggling bits of my body, learning to juggle 5 balls all over again, 3 ball body throws, getting confused about antispin, balancing things on my head and spinning a ball on my finger.

occupation: db admin and layout & design (similar to a porn star, just in an office). i work for a small, law firm in their information and research department. i also handle all of the firm's dtp, digital publishing and commercial print. aerotech toys aren't cheap and since my body won't ever make me rich, i have resorted to something a little more conventional smile

hobbies: bammy ubblove , this stuff, music, collecting things (i'm very bad for this) and boarding (although my skating is now non-existent due to me being crap and it hurting too much so just snow when i can afford it).

music: i like pretty much all of it. current playlist includes TOOL, RADIOHEAD, THE ROOTS, D'ANGELO and JEFF BUCKLEY, (and the rest) wayne shorter, a perfect circle, billie holiday, jill scott, joni mitchell, saul williams, john coltrane, soad, dj shadow, roy hargrove, 4-tet, edith piaf, cat empire, faith no more...

movies: recently seen... old boy eek team america, the last samurai, the ladykillers, the eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, shaolin kung fu master, jackie brown, shrek 2, shogun assassin, midnight express, lotr, seven samurai & magnificent seven double bill, kill bill 1 & 2, confessions of a dangerous mind, eraserhead, princess mononoke, a beautiful mind, pay it forward, adaptation, waking life.

favourites... shogun assassin, requium for a dream, anything by lynch, kevin smith or the coen brothers or anything written by charlie kaufmann.

books: recent... hiding the elephant, illuminatus trilogy, philosophical investigations, a book on nlp, shogun, oracle night, peter cook '...only twin', the curious incident of the dog in the night time, lord of the rings trilogy (first time ever - it didn't disappoint!), the complete winnie-the-pooh collection, of mice and men, vurt (again), chocky, brave new world, dune, falling out of cars, alice's adventures in wonderland.

favourite authors... jeff noon, iain banks, robert anton wilson and comic/graphic novel writers that only fanboys like me have ever heard of (brian michael bendis, j. m. staczynski, kevin smith, alan moore, greg rucker, brian azzarello).

tv: was invented solely to distribute the league and the boosh to the masses.

favourite colour(s): both of them - black and white smile

favourite number: three - its magic don't ya know?

i never had a favourite number until last year so i thought i may as well put it up here with the rest of the useless information.

cole

and a quick note about that orange 'grumpy' face on the top of all my posts - i'm not mean or unhappy, nor does it suggest that i'm angry in every post i make.

i just think its cooler than the regular pin-in-a-post-it message icon. and it makes it easy to spot my own posts cos it rarely gets used by anyone else. and its orange and black.

ahhh, nearing the end of the afternoon and time for a break methinks.

right, just got me a choccy flapjack and a nice cup of tea.

could do with a sliff to top it all off but i guess i can wait a couple of hours smile

in answer to your questions:

yes.

yes.

no (i *stayed in* sunday and had a fab home-cooked meal wink)

glasto will be rockin as usual i'm sure but £115?! eek

i'm going to have to start blagging my way into these things again...

good news on the ticket personalisation though - that should weed out at least a few of the touts.

talking of booking time off work - i just booked my bjc week off and it turns out that i get back from amsterdam on the tuesday and i'm off to derby for a week's juggling on the wednesday evening biggrin

damn that worked out well.

in other news:

last night we managed to get through all our songs that we will be playing at my dad's party (2 weeks!) without any major mistakes. this is good as at all our other 'practices' (read 'stoner sessions with some sparce guitar and singing') we have played at the most only half of the songs and invariably messed them all up ubbangel

i can't find the favourite spinners thread - i remembered i had missed someone off and wanted to go back and remedy it but alas it is beyond my grasp. frown

[edit: found it and fixed it. my poi inspirational history post is now complete]

this flapjack is really tasty.

there's a new forum here what has a few of my sarcastic but lovely friends on it. it has no rules and no main topics. more random text-based fun. if you go look be aware that, although almost identical on a genetic level, their 'moohaahaa' is a very different person to our beloved moohaahaa.

to miss eva zee: i've heard of him biggrin i didn't know he does workshops as well as shows! have to keep an eye on that one...

so anyway, a big 'yes please' to coming to that show with yous.

mebee i come down on the friday night and play with you and your friends all weekend, no...?

let me know where to get a ticket pleez and pm me ya bank details so i can transfer my bjc ticket fee to you asap.

massive hugs for both of these my darling. kiss

you (like me and a few others) are a very lucky man - kev is indeed lovely and he can also do lots of very beautiful things that he shares with a big smile. smile

my current favourite things that kev does are:
1. aerotech p1's swung as poi into club gripped snakes and back out again,
2. the unbelievably gorgeous flat plane mills with clubs from a shoulder throw start ubblove
3. when am trying to be crap and leave a workshop without going to the pub he puts me right and leads me to the bar.

i believe a few upsidedown byron people know him well too (valura and arsn especially).

i noticed your post in clubswinging yesterday and knew it had to be the same kebbie we know and love biggrin

so, hows your juggling going?
personally, i'm having a lot of trouble putting my balls down at all...

I like the way Kevin came to Dublin for the weekend to see his lady (claiming to have had no idea there was a juggling convention on umm) and then spent most of saterday teaching me cool moves ubbangel ubblol

His snakes ubblove

I did a 3 ball workshop on saterday. I'd never even juggled in front of another juggler before then so I got loads of tips and ideas from that.

I feel a way more motivated since to. Mainly because I have different stuff to practice like multiplexes and other cool stuff that I wouldn't know names for biggrin

I've also got to buy new clubs as I've been told the ones I was given are actually bad for me.... confused I know they're crap and cheap confused maybe I'd be better off buying some more.

I'm going to start going to the juggling clubs in the colleges in Dublin and I'm half thinking about going to the BJC, so it'd be a good excuse to practise like mad till then.

can't recommend them enough though - i bought them direct from here.

Hmm....can't justify that money just now. I've been offered a loan of 3 temporarily so I'll go that way for the moment. biggrin

I'll see about the BJC. It sounds deadly, as usual money's and issue and the first thing I'm going to do is see if I can get the time off work. I'll keep you posted though... smile

sorry i missed ya yesterday.

i did some juggling last night.
did a bunch of stuff with clubs for the first time like one round of 531 as single-flat-btbpass, a jammy 531 with the 5 as a backcrossed double (caught wrong end but i reckon it still counts wink), 7 club passing on doubles with martin and a quick bit a of basic popcorn with balls at the end.

forgot to go through siteswap stuff with will but probably best if i write some stuff down first anyway.

twas a lovely evening.

tis looking a lot like i'm not going to make up for beltane though... ubbcrying

hello there miss neko hug

i popped over to your intro to see how things were with you and yours but all i got was a discourse on how to avoid the inconveniences of the holy season of lent ubblol

so how is ya? all well i hope?
i have been smiling lots recently for no particular reason.
feels good and makes lots of grumpy people out on the street look silly for walking round with a frown smile

i saw finding nemo the other day which helped up my smile quota quite a bit.
then i watched it 2 more times! biggrin
made me wonder though why it is that all the good releases from disney are now produced by other studios (namely ghibli & pixar)?

ooh, i got given a big bowl with a spoon and two sticks about two weeks ago and still haven't made anything nice to put in it - i think you might be the perfect person to ask smile
do you or kota make ramen noodles from scratch at all?
if you don't, i was wondering if there is a particular brand of noodles that you could recommend?
and if ya have time maybe a couple of suggestions for tasty ramen dishes...? ubbangel

see ya soon honey kiss

the lick is about 4 degrees lower than the shiznit on the universal pimpology scale.

the shiznits however are quite a different set of things and are more directly comparable to boom tings.

Huggles to you sweets hug I am very genki ta very much, missing my Kota and indeed his fab cooking. He is really the one to ask about such matters as my interest in Japanese food mainly lies in the conumption rather than the preparation.

Nemo! What a fab film. It seems Disney is just one huge marketing rollersteamer with no real creativity left. I heard Pixar are planning to break ties with Disney so possibly there will be only a few more films unless Disney put a very sweet offer on the table. Why Pixar would need Disney for distribution now though is beyong me, I think people say 'yay a new Pixar animation' rather than ' whoopie a new Disney movie'. Disney are also merely distributors for Ghibli outside of Asia.

Ever seen the film Tampopo? Its a wonderful film about the search for the perfect ramen recipe - watch it and be inspired!

My fave Ramen is Miso Ramen. There is an excellent recipe for it here which I discovered from the World of Ramen site. Haven't tried it out but follow that and you can't go wrong.

Ever been to Ramen Seto on Kingly St, Oxford Circus? Nice little ramen shop, cheap, they do v. good jumbo gyoza and right next door to the Blues Bar!
