Posted: I have noticed that there are alot of writers on this board, or those who one day wish to be authors.I also have been feeling lately that to express myself and my gripes as a professional performer is some what unwelcomed or at least misunderstood on here.I have been feeling very isolated here (this portion of the world is not known much for it's overwhelming sense of culture and art) so I would like to set up some e-groups to share and discuss. I am hoping that we can get feedback on ideas and help over coming some of the challenges that smack us in the face. What do you think? If interested just email me at Spiderblade@yahoo.com------------------Pele Higher, higher burning fire...making music like a choir...https://www.pyromorph.com

Posted: I'm not what to say, but i felt compelled to reply to this post because you said you felt misunderstood. And i think if i understand what your saying. I agree that around here there isn't really much culture and art as it were. Everything is dictated by what the TV says is cool, or what is art. Our art, whether it be spinning poi, or staff, is highly missunderstood and not usually looked at upon as art. Usually the blank stares and comments from people give me the impression all they think is i have a lot of free time on my hands to spend doing this.I'm not a performer in the sense that i get gigs and make money, i do go to the city sometimes and "perform" in central park(not asking for money). And from what i notice nobody cares except the little kids. Hell people act like they don't even see me and try to walk right through my ropes. The only ones i can really get support from are my friends who i got into it. My parents seem to support, in the fact they say that i've really improved from the old days of trying desperatly trying to get the butterfly right. Hell my GF doesn't even really seem all that interested when i do it. Sure she likes to try it every now and then. But when i do it ,, i just don't feel like i'm impressing her.Hmmmm that sudden explosion of emotion came outa no where. Well i feel better.
Posted: I agree that it can be difficult to try and justify what you do to some people and it can be frustrating as hell if people who you are very close to don't share the same passion. Don't really know what i'm trying to say really, guess i just sympathise with ya Nagantootch.Chin up Pele.Cya TEMPEST

Posted: Hey come on guys, if were there with ya's......GROUP HUG!!!!!!!!!Well, i must say, i really gotta say, who cares! I'mean, i am the only person in my circle of close friends who performs, but it doesn't matter to me that they don't share the same "spark" <--(had to) What matters to me when i'm twirling is three things... no no make that four.1) That little kid that walks up, stares and starts smilling.2) That cute girl, with the same expression3)tee hee, or that cute guy for that matter4) Most importantly: As long as assholes don't come with their ignorence, and start hooting and mocking. (the best revenged i've used is to offer them shot, whach how quickly they walk away)So my people, i guess my message is as long as we have eachother, the kids, and the cutes, will make it through. once more> GROUP HUG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! cheer up pele!

Posted: Thanks...you guys are very sweet and funny, but I am not really all that upset, just wondering if anyone is interested in participating in e-group discussions, one based on fire and professional performing and the other on writing. Thanks for all the emails showing interest as well! You all constantly surprise me!And Naganootch, doesn't it feel good to vent?I congratulate you on having the support of your family, cause let me tell you, my family is not supportive of anything I do at all and it can be the most heartbreaking thing! Enjoy it for you and don't worry about the park passers-by, after all it is NYC, land of the most desensitized people!!!Much love to all,------------------Pele Higher, higher burning fire...making music like a choir...https://www.pyromorph.com
