Hey hey!
Anyone here going to Woodford this year?
It's been about 4 years since I've last been.... is there still the nightly gathering outside the Chai Tent?
I'd love to get together with some people and have a fat spin session one night!
I can't wait!

Last year there were some problems with twirling by the chai tent, if fact it was stopped by securty and no-one could twirl. that sucked, but considering it was a thoroughfare/road, this was kind of understandable - and seemed to be strictly acted upon.
I figure that this year will be the same despite constant requests for a twirling space to be allocated. I don't think this has happened, but I could be wrong. What is of more concern would be total fire bans if we don't get rain soon. I imagine this will be the case as the site is extremely tinder dry at present.
However, there is some good news. Finally there will be a DOOF space!! Yes that's right DOOF, DOOF, DOOF!!! Could you imagine a better thing to happen?!?! Called the Jungle Arbour, it will feature some of the better electronic acts that's on offer - such as Rip van Hippy, Hexadecimal, Paul Abad, Mantrix, Funky Space Elf, on and on...
New Years is to go off with tunes and beat til 6am. WHOA!!!
Woodford with a dedicated DOOF zone - so who's coming now!!!
If you want to know who's playing when, email me.
BTW Gooble Warming will be there 'n force, with stall and all.

Yep... twirling was stopped by sercurity in the beginning of the fest last year due to the fire bands... It was so very dry... but after the rains came they set up an area that twirlers were able to play fire.. in that spot, out side the chai tent...

One year there was a great twirling spot out at the ampitheatre... It was great with the grass underfoot, fire dancing to The Bird, playing on stage

Well ye' we'll be there! YAY! So if you happen to see a couple of stilt walking nature spirits...or a group of fire gypsies, come say hello!!! I'd Love to meet up with other HOP loveres at the fest!

Feels like this year's going to be a good one! YUM! I can't wait!

Hey,

I might go to for a couple of days but I've been to Woodford every year since I was 5 years old when it used to be Malaney Folk Festival and it never rained and and we had a natural swimming hole with a mini waterfall right in the middle of the festival.
Those where the days
I missed out last year though broke the chain.
I went out to a festival at Tenterfield at a friend of mines property.
I'm tempted to go to Woodford for the hole week but I'll wait til' the day I can decide then.
Definitely have to get out of Byron way too many people and way too scattered whereas at Woodford something keeps everything together and there is mutual respect from everyone. In all the years I went to Woodford I only saw one fight start and it was over before it even got started.

Anyhow completely off the track there.

Hope to see you there

Keep dancin'

Majik, its the land you know. have you ever been to the site during the year, when the festival is all but a echo in the hills. The land possesses such an energy that you cannot descibe. Thats what keeps 'us' coming back year after year.
Maleny was great, but it had its dramas too. Noise, parking, space etc. With woodford, there are no such restrictions (well almost). It is their own land, and in the true folk spirit, making something very special from nothing really. It is still run predominantly by volunteers, and despite what alot of people think it is not overly commercialised (lets face it triple m aren't there yet).
Valura - you think it is expensive? I challenge you to add up what it would cost to go to say Spleandour in the Grass for 6 days and see what it would cost - including accomodation. Really when you think about what you get, $250ish is damn good value. 6 days of entertainment, (not just the entertainment that is provided) accomodation, ok you gotta buy food if you aren't prepared enough to bring your own. Valura, why don't you volunteer to help, you may just get in free and have to work your ticket off.

This year looks very special, with the inclusion of an electronic/psytrance venue - a big first. I know for sure that when I'm not at my stall, I'll be stomping at the Jungle Arbour. I, myself, am really looking forward to this as I feel it has been a long time coming.

4 weeks to go!!!

Im sure its worth it...I just think 250 dollars is way too much for a folk festival...$250 per person!?
yeah I might try to help out and see if I can get in that way...because otherwise I wont be able to make it...too much money
