So here I am again. It's been a while hasn't it. My alto sax initially got a lot of use. Funny isn't it, how a fulltime job takes away all your spare time. Haven't had any time to poi too, apart from Jugglejam on Mondays and the monthly Moonfests. And even then, it somehow seems I tend to play with the stockwhip instead of poi shrug

Another lens has been added to the stable too. A Canon EF-S 10-22 3.5-4.5.. nice and wiide. But it all boils back down to that time issue. Despite having the new lens, I seem to find I'm out taking less pictures.. the folio hasn't been updated in a while, and I'm starting to get the horrible feeling I'm stagnating. Must. Get out of this rut.

If you're my muse and reading this, inspiration needed now. hug

-Edited 14 Dec 2005-

I liken this to opening the fridge to find that jar of misc what's it, several months expired ubblol. Hey how's it going? wave

So what's new! Well.. poi's getting a bit better for one thing. Nice how after poi-ing for a while, you stop hitting yourself senseless. In fact, one might argue how after a certain point, each hit puts more sense into you.. wink Haven't gone skating or rockclimbing in a bit, but that's ok- life's full of wonderful distractions, and really, you can only do a couple at a time.

University's just wrapped up! Yep. A degree in art & visual culture, television & digital media.. Just waiting for a piece of paper at the moment (yay!). And trying to sort out how Australia will let me live here forever and ever biggrin. Have I mentioned how wonderful it is, you so ought to visit *nudge* wink Also been getting out the with photography and stuff- a couple of projects to follow up on, blue skies and puffy clouds as far as I can see.

Updates updates. [insert geek] I've updated my camera gear too.. my 20D, 17-85 4-5.6 IS and 580EX now have a 70-200 2.8L IS to play with.. soon too, riding on getting a particular gig, either a 350D and a 24-105 f4 IS, or another 20D.. -grin- [/end geek]

[edit 14/12/05: Gig didn't go through, and ended up performing at it instead of shooting it ubblol Life has a funny way of messing you about doesn't it.. so no 2nd body for me just yet, or nice 24-105 f4 IS redface]

Been taking lots of photos lately. I think there's something intrinsically beautiful in capturing moments- you know how you look at a photo and it brings you back to where you were that day, who you were with, how the air smelt even.. Maybe one day I'll get to exhibit ubblove.. but yeah.. lots of work to be done meantime.

Hmmmm.. yes the world's beautiful today. It's good to have new toys, new moves, new direction.. old friends hug.. a best friend hug2, and enough distractions not to get bored for too long.

Btw.. favourite words haven't changed.. ubbrollsmile And mm.. I'm still not too close to balletic, and dulcet..

Hmm.. la la la laaa squawk.. footinmouth

[edit 14/12/05: I now have a beautiful alto saxophone- the best use of which I have thus far found, is to attract ducks and other misc waterfowl]

Yep, how about we say still aspiring. biggrin

Hope all's well with everyone- don't be strangers now! hug biggrin

I've been exploring this site a bit lately, and have decided everyone seems like a nice bunch- thought it's about time I said hello. Ryan, 24, born in Singapore, but Brisbane Australia has been home to me for the past 3 years.

I love photography, playing the guitar (if one took a picture of me with my guitar, it looks like I'm playing it- does that count?), getting from point A to B on my trusty mountain bike, inline skating and hockey, occasionally rockclimbing, and just being in good company. I'd also like to add poiing to the list when I stop hitting myself senseless.

Irrelevantly, my two favourite words (I've got heaps if anyone's interested) are 'balletic' and 'dulcet'. 'Balletic', unfortunately, isn't a word I'd use to describe anything I can do, and 'dulcet' is a word I haven't dreamt of aspiring towards yet.

Enough for now, don't be strangers! biggrin

Wasn't even sure if they had them commonly available in the US, but I know that some &*($# company tried (don't know if they won) to trademark the name Ugg, which is ridiculous! Aussies have been wearing and calling them ugg boots forever!

Hehe.. I wouldn't mind reading about it, but probably wouldn't put too much effort into working it out. I did accidentally lucid dream a couple of times, and those are incredibly trippy. Haven't been able to work out how to consistently get it, but so far, I've noticed the instances I did get there, I was more shutting my eyes and trying to nap for a bit and trying not to get into a deep sleep because I needed to be awake in half an hour, and in a place not entirely dark..

Hippy shop wink How's precognition going? I assume that's like tuning your intuitive/psychic antennae?

hmm... i dont know anything about lucid dreams BUT!!! i do know plenty about slep cylces and the such like, for example, dreaming usually (but not always) happens in REM sleep, after deep sleep (or NREM sleep) and im fairly sure it takes a good half hour of hypnogogic sleep and light sleep phasses ummm 1 to3? before you hit deep sleep or REM sleep. so i dont know where lucid dreams would fit in, might have too look it up.

i have lost hope on finding resources for pregonition, i kinda just assume that its intuition knowing which thoughts and dreams are precognitive and which are just daydreaming. i still find myself getting them mixed up though.

Hypnagogic! Added to my list of interesting words. Have to look that one up.

*Andrea, if you're out there at all, Hypnagogic!!*

Lucid dreams are pretty cool, I think it's sort of waking up mentally before you wake up physically.. Trippy things like not being able to read or write (I looked at a noticeboard and thought, oh I can read it.. I must be awake; then the letters rearranged themselves, then again, into a flurry of symbols and text. Can't change the light either.. like if you walked over to the light switch and turned it on or off, nothing will happen. And also can't count properly- if you suspect you're in it, a good tip is to look at your hands, to establish some sort of control/awareness. But there's a good chance you get too excited then wake up.. But yeah.. it's a bit of an interesting area.

About precognition, I think I'd look at is as learning the language of intepreting instinct and honing that as much as possible. I think dreams are a great insight into the mind- trouble is it's a lot of effort to keep track, and then it takes some discipline to differentiate what it reads from what you want it to read.. Hmm. I'll have to do a bit more research I reckon..

hypnagogic is indeed an interesting word... ill even give a ful blown out definition for the heck of it

hypnagogic - border state of consciousness between sleep and wakefullness ie transitional state preceeding sleep, hallucinations may occur at this time and people in a hypnagogic state often claim they were not alseep.

see i feel clever now biggrin

i shall have to speak to dino, if i ever see him again, aparently he can lucid dream, as well as just fall asleep whenver her likes just to pass time.

i think we all need to a bit more research, but i know plenty of phsycholoigal theories into the funstions of dreams, however none of them mention esp, precognition or lucid dreams. i think most psycholohists dont belives in all the "psychic mumbo jumbo" biggrin

Hey neat- I just wikipedia-ed hypnagogic and found a link to lucid dreaming- very related it seems. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucid_dream#Wake-initiation_of_lucid_dreams_.28WILD.29

That section on wake initiated lucid dreams was pretty much it! Wouldn't mind having another lucid dream soon- I suppose the problem is I don't really have time for afternoon naps ubblol

But yeah, lucid dreams I don't think are so much theories but more a phenomena relating to being between lucid/dream states..

Precognition though! That would be a good thing to read about if only there was more literature on it!

Try sleeping somewhere not too comfortable, in the daytime, like not on a pillow, but maybe a sofa cushion, and lie on your back , not to the side. Go to sleep with the thought you don't have an alarm clock but want to nap for an hour, and try not to go into too deep a sleep cos you want to be able to automatically wake up around an hour later.. Make sure it's not too dark, perhaps have a lamp on so much so if you close your eyes, you can see it's slightly brighter in the direction of the lamp.

Then when you actually reach some kind of between sleep and waking stage, think 'I need to look around me', and or 'I need to look at my hands'. Fingers look very strange, and if you shake them, you can't count them! That's the first stage for me. I find once I can my hands and I look up, I can see a dream scene. Trippiest tourist attraction in lucid dream land is 'Now I need to look for something to read'. For me, a noticeboard has appeared, a clock too. Things appear like you can read them, but they do the jackpot thing and roll, then stop, then roll then stop. And text has looked like kanji characters where each part of the kanji rolls independently..

Don't know about Beren Gully.. hmm.. if you shuffled that it'd be Green Bully? ubblol But mm.. Beren Gully sounds like a real place! To Whereis! ubbrollsmile

Alrighty.. here's the update everyone's been (or not been) waiting for. Been trying very hard to avoid making this post, but at some point, it had to come.

After a year we wouldn't trade the world for- of love, laughs, tears, smiles, countries, lakes, mountains, people, things, turkeys, fishies - my darling missus and I are no longer travelling the same path.

Noone was really to blame; we still love each other very dearly. Pip, it broke my heart to let you go, but at the same time, it absolutely shatters it even more to not let you be all that you want to be, and take you wherever your heart leads.

Between a rock and a hard place eh. But yes. Cedar Creek will always be there for us. Meat shop, Kuan Yin, Jugglejam, the fishy business.. My castle is your castle. Well especially since after you infiltrated it with posh linen and super luxy towels and what not.. ubblol

You always will hold a very special place in my heart. smile hug hug hug kiss xxx
