So: What I have to do to go to an interview...

2AM Saturday: leave work. Go home, pack. I'm going to bed now. It's 4:30 AM.

5:15 AM Wake up, shower, dress, throw the remaining stuff in my bag.

6:00 AM: Leave for JFK Airport.

8:30 AM: Flight boards

12:10 PM (Pacific): Flight lands at San Francisco (assuming all goes well)

Now, as if THAT didn't suck enough (got it? 45 minute's sleep...and I don't sleep on planes)

Monday night: 10:30 Pacific time: Flight 18 SFO-JFK departs (assuming all goes well)

Tuesday morning 6:50 Eastern (assuming all goes well, which is a miracle in the Northeast corridor of the US): Arrive at JFK and then jump in a cab to make it to the hospital by 8AM to start my 8-5 shift.

This is gonna SUCK. frown But being in SF will be fun. biggrin

So far so good. I got 3 hrs sleep on the flight. I got randomly upgraded to a seat that was like an Economy Plus recliner. So I slept a bit, rested some more, and arrived feeling a bit fresher than when I'd left. It's a 6 hour flight across the U.S. for those who haven't been here, so it's almost London-New York.

On approach into San Francisco International, we passed in view of Stanford University, my once (and possibly future) home. I landed grinning like an idiot. I may like things about New York more than San Francisco, but I'm never this thrilled to land in New York.

I'm chilling at my friends' apartment which has a gorgeous view of the city. I'm going for a walk soon. Then we're going to dinner.

And there are cypress and palm trees and the colors are right and the sky is blue and I'm in San Francisco. biggrin

I've come home! bounce2 ubblol clap ubbtickled peace ubblove

I loved Stanford.

Even so. I just formally accepted UCSF's offer.

Too late for doubts, too late for regrets.

Time to look forward.

And all i had to do was drive for 8 hours - but it was to Slough so i get extra deprivation points for that wink

Does it feel good to make a decision and be on the move?
