I was awake all last night (no mynci) so bugger it. A scientiffic endevour at the risk of my own health and nobody elses. No vegan warrior can stand up to me now as I (lmsp) have made a choice to see how far I can push myself as I want to know how durable a person I actually am. (and to satisfy my own morbid curiosity. (Low self esiteem being a major factor) to put my mind or whatever at rest)

Depperssion makes you analize and defragment your own insecurities. In other words ..... why the hell not? Seems like a good idea (at this time). ubblol

Sounds weired but I WANMT TO SEE HOW FAR I can go without someome here (in the houyse) to "look after me)

While I think that if you're out with mates and wildly partying and staying up for ages is one thing, I think that doing it alone isn't good at all. You just said yourself that you're depressed and it's making you analyse insecurities and staying up like this is going to make those worse and most likely really upset you.

You don't need to pull things like this to find out how durable you are. We find out how durable we are when are tested by an outside means.

MIND YOU! I always wanted to find out, but, nobody has been faithfull enough (not that I asked, but an offer would have been warmly apprecietied) stick it out with me. (Conclusoion is, I am the only one I can depend on)

Personal experimentation can (and have) change/ed/influence/d the forward thinking mind. Humanity is cxomplex, diverse and unpredictable so all info (even memtal capability, however inconsicuential *spelling*) is one step closer to coping with and/or understanding how/why we are here and why/how we keep evolving to be at the top!

Sorry, BORING SUBGJECT to some but, If we did not seek to undrestand/improove ouselves, Einstein would have been obselete in our history.

I seem to remember reading about a survey a long wile back where they did everything they could shy of drugs more potent than caffine to keep a group of volunteers awake, after about 52 hours (maybe a little less I forget) you start to halucinate , i think they figured after 80 you'd die, but it's been impossible to reach that far, your brain just shuts down and you sleep whaterver they try to do to keep you up, pined back eyelids, the works.

My personal record for going without a wink of sleep is 76 hours. Of course the circumstances were different, but it is a crazy experience.
I was not well after that. ubbloco
I do agree that going sleepless is bad for you.
BUT
If you are feeling blue and feeling the need to do something crazy, something to push yourself, something a little bit out there, something challenging, and maybe even something a bit self-destructive, pulling an extended solo all nighter may not be the worst option. Unless you're a surgeon or something.

Sleep certainly is a fascinating thing to tool around with isn't it?

if you go a certain amount of time (i forget how long exactly, but the kids in the psych. class at school know) without sleeping, and without any mind altering drugs, you will start to fall asleep without even noticing it, then waking up without knowing you were asleep. after a certain amount of time, if you are still awake you're clinically insane smile

forced marches (such as the evactuation of france in WW2) had people marching nonstop for hours. as i recall one man who was interviewed said that you would fall to sleep marching and only wake up when you ran into the person infront of you. sleep is very interesting indeed.

For everybody's information, there is an over-the-counter sleep aid sold in the U.S. as "NYTOL." It contains a drug called diphenhydramine hydrochloride 25mg per tablet. It is safe, non-habit forming, and quite effective. Make sure you have a good 6-8 hours in which to sleep because you will otherwise feel quite groggy when you wake up.

Now, by sheer coincidence, "BENADRYL," the popular allergy medication contains... diphenhydramine hydrochloride, 25mg per tablet. And costs about 2/3 as much.

Generic allergy medication contains... diphenhydramine hydrochloride 25mg per tablet. And costs about 2/3 as much as "BENADRYL" and about 1/2 as much as "NYTOL."

You're all smart kids; figure it out yourself. biggrin

this is a BBC news story of the new sleepless world record. 11 days to beat the previous record of 264 hours and Guiness have cancelled any further backing for this record due to associated health risks.

NOW I WANT TO YAWN REALLY DEEPLY
And laugh at each one of you who actually feels like a yawn and stretch.

You know that feeling that begins in the back of your throat and moves to your ears as you inhale that cool air, making your ears pop, your lungs feeling full and heavy, then after, releasing that lungful of air, feeling in good health

I just made Sunbird yawn 7 times as he watched me write this rofl ubblol then he went to see if he could make the fish yawn. ubblol

Gonna have to copy that paragraph to shout it from the rooftops lol smile
