Posted: So I was sitting at the wet mess the other night and I met someone who does exactly the same thing I do when I meet someone new.
He introduced himself as the resident fag (his words not mine) and joked about keeping the boys away from him.
When some of the other boys started in laughing with him and then carried on with it a bit you could see the uncomfortable levels just rising in this guy....
He ended up getting really upset over it and left.
Now he lablled himself and was making fun of himself to start off with so he sort of had to expect that they wouldn't let go of a bone that they had been thrown quite willingly but I really think he was doing the same thing I always do and I have seen a number of other people do as well.
I think, just as a matter of observation, that due to being given hell while he was younger over the way he was he started figuring getting in earlier would spare him some of the hurt that comes from the genuine nastiness that people seem to enjoy dishing out.
And that maybe if he says it as a joke he will take anything that comes back to him in regards to that as a joke. Unfortunately I have also observed that majority of times that a person does this the comments still hurt. And now instead of being able to defend yourself you have to laugh it off and pretend it didn't hurt because, after all you were the one who said it in the first place.
Oh and don't get me wrong I think what the guys were saying was wrong too...and told them to back off a number of times...
hmmm...sorry about my randomness on this one but it seriously has me thinking about human nature and why we do what we do.....
Any thoughts?
