the english language has some funny and rude sounding words, these are not always offencive words...... they maybe perfectly innocent, simple words.

here's a few to start.....

rod (fishing)

shaft (elivator)

member ubblol

boob (as in error)

censored the swear filter dose not allow this word, the name of a male chicken wink

prick (as in pricking your self with a pin)

knob (door)

i hope i've not offended anyone, but if you can think of more words and the context feel free to add them

The leftover bits from a mining operation: mullock and slimes. It's always amused me.

A volcanic mudslide is a lahar, try saying it in various ways: laharrr, laahar etc.

Another word for sinkhole is doline, altogether now: "Doline, doline, doline doliiine..."

Mange has always struck me as funny for no reason whatsoever. Mange tout, well, you've just lost me.

There is a slight possibility that I am not actually right all of the time.

If we're going to talk about funny place names, don't forget Lake Titicaca!

Pennsylvannia is home to Blue Ball, Bird in Hand, Paradise, Buttzville (my personal fav since I was a little girl!), and Intercourse. And, then again, there is the rather curious places of Georgia called "Coffee" and "Bacon" counties.

Oh, oh! And I seriously blew through a town once that was called.... SMARR!

.... *sheepish* whenever I feel the need to draw forth some bezerker strength to perform some act.... or just pretend to be super-strong, I shout it as I feel Conan would bellow forth the name of that town. Try it some time. It'll make you feel happy. biggrin

I almost killed myself laughing when I started working in the mines...

I thought they were pulling my leg when they told me that they used nippers to grease the nipples...

And then one of the fitters told me he had replaced a flange on one of the boggers (big big heavy machinery they use underground!)

Australia does have fantastically amusing place names- just looking at a bus timetable, and all one one route we have: Managatang, Wood Wood (so good, they named it twice), Nyah, Kerang, Durham Ox and Dingee..

No idea why, but the word 'emancipate' always sounded obscene to me.

THE MEEK WILL INHERIT THE EARTH!
