I recommend getting a box of popcorn; these stories are usually entertaining!

i would have changed ***** to phallus, and claire to petey Petey

Rougie: but that's what I'm doing here
Arnwyn: what letting me adjust myself in your room?..don't you dare quote that on HoP...

They are unique to New Zealand like Jandals, Pavlova and the Haka.

eek

Even without opening up the debate about which side of the Tasman it's from, the fact that a debate exists PROVES that it's not "unique" to NZ!

*points and shouts*

ubblol haha Rougie - get over it! Pavlova started here and everyone except you Ozzies know it! The only reason there's a debate is coz the truth hurts and you hate being beaten by a smaller country! biggrin

*points & laughs at Rougie*
unique to NZ... pavlova... pavlova is native to Kiwi land...

*rubs it in* ubblol ubblol ubblol
(and just remember you started it this time!) biggrin

oh no i didn't! I said "without" opening up the debate! You've officially done that! nana

I'm stating the FACT that it cannot be "unique" because the existance of an argument PROVES that it cannot be unique.

No, no, dear girl, arguing about something doesn't make it right or wrong...

Unique, a, 1. Of which there is only one; one and no other; single, sole, solitary.

Therefore given that we also have it here, regardless of its ethnicity, the pavlova cannot be unique to NZ.

QED.

unique in terms of origin they mean dear girl. *pats her hand*
They have haka's in other countries (when other people perform them) but you're not arguing that's not unique to NZ.
Same as there are Koala's in other countries (in zoos) but people accept they are unique to Ozztralia... And didgeridoos and boomerrangs are made and sold all around the world but people will acknowledge they're unique to Oz too. ....
Origins... unique origins...
Pavlova, unique to NZ...

*rubs it in again *

ok, so lets look at the other meanings for unique:

 Written by: OED

2. That is or forms the only one of its kind
3. Formed or consisting of one or a single thing.

nope, nothing there about origins...

3. limited in occurrence to a given class, situation, or area: a species unique to Australia, the pavlova is unique to New Zealand.

Ha! it even uses Or-strar-lee-arr to prove the point.

Despite the fact that the OED is more reliable than a free internet dictionary, it's still priving MY point! That it's limited in occurrence! the pavlova is NOT limited in occurance to NZ!

i would have changed ***** to phallus, and claire to petey Petey

Then you renounce "claims" to the boomerang and didgeridoo since I know they're being made, used & sold many places overseas and therefore are not unique??

I see once again the impeccable logic of the McNeur has driven the point home! Pavlova IS unique (as in owes it's origins) to NZ. qed. ipso facto. not to mention Rouge sux!! ubblol ubblol ubblol
