I've heard of them before (in Tiger Adventure by Willard Price).

He said that they tended to be quite stupid, short-sighted and extremely aggressive. Not one to meetdown a dark alley definitely.

I want a savannah: a hybrid of an African serval and a domestic bengal cat.

It looks like an ocelot but is a domestic cat!

Pretty!!

I watched a documentary on tv last night about a possible Humanzee called Oliver. DNA test results .

In the programme other hybrids were discussed. The explanation given for the huge size of the Liger is that the female lion and the male tiger carry and pass to offspring the growth inhibitor gene. The hybrid offspring of a female tiger and a male lion has no gene to stop growth. As a result of this the hybrid cubs grow far bigger than both parents. In the article linked at the beginning of this thread it states that the ligers are highly aggressive. However, in the documentary I saw last night the liger breeders were shown interacting with the ligers, swimming and playing etc, and the ligers seemed very tame. They looked incredibly well fed though, so they would not need to consider the humans as a source of food.

Puts the actual size of them into perspective when they're by people doesn't it? Bit scarey really.

Liger's have been around for awhile. Mule's are a hybrid of horses and donkeys. They also have one with a zebra and a horse, but I can't remember what it is. The interesting thing about hybrids is that they are born sterile. Therefore they can not become a new species...but always remain scientific hybrids.
I know with Mules that they are more trainable and stronger than donkeys but they are more compact than horses, which is what they were going for.
With Zebras/horses it was an increase in size with a more camoflage coloration for use in military stuff. I don't know if it worked though. I never followed through reading about them.

Wonder when they are going to have a Mape (Man + Ape). Oh wait...I think they already do...I went to high school with him!
